Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

I second @theatremomma. I have several voice students who have gone to Fullerton and basically had to drop out or try to transfer…one her senior year! Only one kid I know graduated and he was a boy. CA state schools are so impacted that once they were bumped from the program, they were unable to get the classes they needed for another major. These were very talented kids by the way. Two of them work with Disney as performers.

Ahhh, we are the same way. Have made it thru the process very smoothly, but D only has 6 MT programs she is waiting on and they start rolling in this week. I asked her how she was feeling about this week and she is nervous. She keeps checking “The Company” FB page to see when notices are rolling out and to see how other kids are fairing. I think the fact that all her friends already know where they are going to be in the fall and she doesn’t have a clue is wearing on her. Fingers crossed for everyone this week!

@LBSMOM My D is feeling the same way! Her friends already have roommates for fall and are planning their room and she has no idea where she will be! I try to remind her we knew it would be this way, but it is so frustrating. She doesn’t have one “yes” yet and we are waiting to hear from 15!! It helps me to know - from this group - that we are not alone.

If my D doesn’t get acceptances from those we are still waiting for, I thing Fullerton would be a good place to start, but perhaps try to transfer to another school after her freshman year. I had a friend at UCI who felt she was at the bottom of the “pecking order” in MT. She audition for and was accepted by Molloy her junior year and just graduated last May. D also applied and was accepted to Cal State Chico for MT. Another top California MT program. I’m OK with not having pay out of state tuition.

@KarenK99 @freddieggirl maybe it’s good you didn’t get the BW email lol. I thought it was weird tbh. It’s a reminder of the decision release day and it also alludes to the fact that if the decision isn’t positive then you can always go there for something else… maybe it’s the "easy let down before the letdown " email for us ? Whatever! We will survive if it’s a no.
Just not sure why everyone wouldn’t get it. I guess I feel like why would you send that anyway? Not really necessary

Can I just add I’m totally making my D move forward with her top choice out of acceptances she has in hand and if anything happens later then deal with that then! Setting up school tour and seeing current show at that school and meeting up with students in the dept.

something to look forward to and so she feels like she has a plan and we are positive about it

@theaterwork great idea, and great news for some lucky girls who are on the cusp of being accepted to your D’s non-preferred programs, that some spots are opening up

What can you tell me about Nebraska Wesleyan? Thanks!

Paging @KaMaMom so she’ll see @Mel2421 's question!

@Mardeen .Us too. This wait is torturous. We can deal with no’s (though some good news about now would be nice!). Just knowing what is on the table would be great. Hang in there…you’re not alone

Are their any parents on here with MD’s? I’m thinking there a lot of potential “patients” on here who’d pay you well for a valium or xanax prescription! ~X(

@daughtersdreams :))

Does anyone recall when The Hartt School said they would be making notifications? I seem to remember them being April 1 (give or take) - same with BOCO?

@CentralOHmomof4 I don’t know if my daughter’s other acceptances even maintain waitlists so that’s probably not a factor, I just have to get us on a path so my D feels like we’re progressing and she has something positive to focus on while still waiting. She really likes one acceptance and even though she wants another yes , she will be fine at said school If nothing else pans out. She knows what we signed up for at the beginning of all this . She is a resilient child & has proven herself to be this during the auditions.

Nothing in the mail again today. :-w

@LBSMOM we’re waiting for Hartt too. Haven’t heard a peep from them.

@theaterwork Same - we are planning the visit to the one acceptance D has, and my goal is to get her focused on the positive of her acceptance and what that school has to offer - we need to get off this wait/rejection/wait treadmill!

@aquarose26 and @LBSMOM I’m pretty sure Hartt doesn’t notify until April 1, although I think a lot of schools make phone calls to their top picks much earlier in the game.

@CentralOHmomof4 I like the “wait/rejection/wait treadmill” description. Don’t like being on it, but can totally relate. I think there are just a few really lucky (and exceptionally talented) ones who get lots of early phone calls with offers. The rest have to wait and see where those few end up before other offers are made. ~X(

@CATenorMom @LBSMOM You’re right about the phone call from Hartt to their top picks. While at Unifieds in LA we met a kid who had already received an offer over the phone. My D did get an email for academic acceptance back in early Feb., since then…cricketts.
