@theaterwork - love that post! I met about a million “Morticia” moms last year in Chicago…LOL
What @theaterwork said… THIS IS NOT EASY! There’s always that one rare candidate who DOES get in most programs- but seriously, it will not be your child. If you look back at the start of this very thread and see where everybody was applying, you will see optimistic lists of a lot of well intentioned parents and kids.As talented and gifted as your child is- they will not be the best/right fit/right place/right time/ blonde enough/soprano enough/tall enough etc etc for the majority of programs (unless apparently you are @DrowsyChaperone 's daughter’s clone… YOWSA that girl must be outright AMAZING in every way- and I’m being sincere.). So seriously LOOK at the programs not the names and absolutely go for the brand-name school that speaks to you- but don’t ignore the many many less known programs that have so much to offer. They can be a lifeline to your hopes of a BFA degree. Everybody here is SO helpful and kind, I feel so grateful to have found this board early in the process and truly credit you all for getting my D to where she is today. A musical theatre major hopeful with choices!
@momtojoss no mail here either. Can’t believe it…we are exhausted. We’ve been trying to sit back and just be patient all week long but I figured we’d hear something…anything today. Hello CCM…remember us…we saw you way back at NY Unifieds…??? Throw us a bone.
I am thinking smaller school more attention better opportunities ! anyone with me on this!
@singoutlouise We so feel your pain with the CCM pergutory…what is going on??? Is it a yes, no, waitlist, redirect or we lost your application…did the campus close down for a month?? LOL We can’t take it much longer.
@singoutlouise @nodaybut2daymom My D’s “no” from CCM came just a few wee
Just to add…just because you may have never heard of a school, it doesn’t mean that 1,000 BFA MT hopefulls didn’t apply. Half of the schools on my daughters list were schools my family/ friends have never heard of.
It may be their spring break…on hold with CCM at this point is absolutely wonderful… hang in there!!
CCM is a fast with the no. It’s good you haven’t heard yet!
Same here it was awful
My D’s "no"came so fast they could have just handed it to her in the room. But having said that: she DID enjoy her audition & thought they were all very nice.
Ha @MTMHopeful ! My kid is a boy, so we are definitely not Drowsy’s clone. He knows that rejection is part of this crazy ride he’s chosen - both with college auditions and auditions in the future. He also knows that most/all of the applicants will have more involved resumes and more extensive training. To top all that off, he is a singer/actor, not a dancer; although we are currently trying to remedy that to some extent with lessons. S did not fall in love with MT until 10th grade, when he played both Jack and Prince Charming in his school’s production of ITW, under the guidance of a temporary director (who is a seasoned musician/actor and has several impressive credits under his belt.) That experience lit a fire that couldn’t be denied. We know that this is an uphill climb, but he cannot imagine a life doing anything else. He is a talented kid in a SEA of talented kids, and he’s still got on his floaties while lots of these students are already naming their yachts. 2 decades ago, I worked in college admissions. This process is like no other. You should all be commended on the diligence that goes into this particular sect of college admissions, as should the brave kids that face it head-on, and leave it all in the audition room. Thanks again for all of the advice!! I cannot wait to see where each of them land.
I believe now is the time to start notifying those you want to write letters of recommendations.
@beachymom - I love your “floaties” analogy. I always feel like my D is “bringing a knife to a gun fight” for college auditions- your way of thinking of it is much cuter.
I actually have a friend who dug into the tequila today when there was no mail…and no it wasn’t me
oh wow @CATenorMom our kids are only three days apart! Mine turned 18 on Wednesday
@marg928 I saw your post on FB! Happy birthday to your daughter! My son is at a theatre festival, so we won’t even celebrate until Sunday.
Sure @evcvmom …a friend… :))
We are in CCM purgatory as well
Has anyone heard from Syracuse?
This process has aged me about 10 years I swear.
@milmom2 Ten years and five pounds (wine and stress eating).
