The portal for American has not changed, and I’m a notch annoyed because we haven’t received a letter and are fifteen miles from the city. What, are they walking it here?
@stagedoormama - Hoping to follow in your footsteps re: late acceptances. Hope lives on!
@MReader no letter from American here either and we’re in NJ
You are so right, @MTMHopeful. We feel so lucky to have an acceptance at all. This process is eye opening and extremely random. All of the kids that audition for these programs are talented. They wouldn’t make it as far as the audition if they weren’t. There is so much luck involved. Sometimes there is a connection during that tiny 2 minute audition or sometimes a look, a skill, a quality in the voice can help a student stand out. There is a different path for each kid. None of the girls at my D’s HS have an acceptance yet, except for one redirect to a BA, which she is accepting. A few WLs, but no MT acceptances. And really all of them are pretty equally talented, etc. It’s a really stressful time at school. It’s not a PA school, but it is a liberal arts school, with a lot of music and theater classes. There is definitely talk about gap years, etc. I give so much credit to all of these theatre kids! They are a determined bunch. They will find their way!
@MTheaterMom and @theaterwork We are experiencing the exact same thing here. I thinks it is especially hard for our kids because their friends are mostly already committed and our kids are still waiting. And as we all know now, there are usually more rejections than acceptances. I want this to be over so my D can start enjoying senior year a little bit. And so her mother can stop being such a crazy lady!!! Really did not expect this to be so hard. But thanks to all of you, I feel encouraged that she will find a fit somewhere out there!
April 1 is coming!
Another day passes with no decisions via any mode of communication. This is torture.
My D still waiting on the one “yes”…only one BA redirect so far. Hard to enjoy senior year when it literally ends for us here in the south in exactly 9 weeks. Toughest process to go through hands down. Need some luck our way :((
Just got an email from NYU stating that a link will be emailed on 3/30. On April 3 decisions will be released via the link.
@4dramadogs Pretty sure we spent the day talking to you at PSU audition and walking for sandwiches I’m glad #advancedweather has each other to go through all of this together.
Us too, @stagedoormama and @daughtersdreams - still waiting to hear from 5 while stewing with 5 WL and no acceptances.
@missnypizza we feel your pain. Still waiting on four schools, my D is sooooo stressed right now and nothing I say makes it any easier. Looks like she may end up at her safety school here in CA.
@missnypizza Take a look at WKU. They are still accepting applications. They audition after the 3rd semester, but the students all take classes pertaining to the BFA degree starting Freshman year. PM me for more information!
Received a rejection today from Texas State after being on the priority hold list for two weeks. These rejections are getting harder…
I know this is super hard to do, and often times harder for us parents more than the kids, but start to fall in love with your safeties. Start talking about visits (if you haven’t). Pull up the curriculum page again and look at all the great classes the safety has to offer. Talk about additional classes your child can take outside of the university setting if their safety doesn’t offer something they want or need. (my daughter is going to be taking stage combat with a world renowned instructor over the summer). There are ways to make this very depressing time a joyful one. This rough time is just a lump in their oatmeal and will truly become a wonderful 4 year ride once you get passed this.
I think the NYU decisions will be coming out on March 30th via portal and calls will be made on April 3rd. Why do they need to call on April 3rd if the admission decisions are out on the 30th? Bit confused. Anyone have clarity to offer?
@bluestickynote I’m sorry about Texas State. The rejections are getting tougher to take. Did your rejection arrive through get acceptd or mail?
@MomofMTBoy You’re right I did get a bit ahead of myself. I had to go back and re-read the email. Why so complicated? Wish I could clarify if for you but I’m in the dark too.
Thank you, I received an email with a message from acceptd.
For NYU, where do we find our NYU University ID number to make an account on start.nyu.edu?
@MomofMTBoy - NYU does not make phone calls. You get the link, go to the portal, and get your admission decision/financial aide. Then somewhere between 10 days to 2 weeks later, you get studio placement. (If you auditioned MT only and are accepted, then you are in the MT studio, but if you left yourself open to all studios you find out later). Also, as people talk about accepted student visits- just FYI, NYU does a very nice accepted student weekend, but you will not be allowed to visit studios or sit in on classes.
@aquarose26 @MomofMTBoy Last year my S received a similar email from NYU that said they would email decisions on 3/31 and decisions would be available on portal or by calling admissions on 4/4. He received an email with his acceptance on 3/31. There was no phone call. His studio placement was emailed separately on 4/15. Regarding the NetID and University ID, he received those by email after he submitted his admissions application to NYU in October. They were also included in his decision email.
