My son applied to Elon in late August but did not check early action so I guess we are regular decision for academics…wish we handled that differently.
Does anyone have an academic acceptance to Baldwin Wallace yet? We haven’t heard anything from them at all.
@theaterwork I have had an academic acceptance! In my MT and Acting rejection letter they said that “Your academic preparation qualifies you for admission as a liberal arts student to pursue one of the other excellent majors at BW…:”
They also sent a little card that you mail back that has two options. 1) To change your major and receive your official acceptance letter 2) To not go forward with your acceptance.
Of course this is just what happens when your rejected from the program. It’s always worth it to give them a call after break!
Thanks @WhiteRaven1 . I’m thinking it’s because my D hasn’t auditioned yet. She goes in feb. She has a few other schools she’s already auditioned at that are actually higher on her list so that’s just a “throw your hat in the ring” one lol
Here is a nugget for the New Year as y’all get ready for Unifieds and other auditions. This advice was given to D as she gets ready for Summer Stock auditions from one of her professors, who is an AEA actor. “If you have a choice, go with a comedic monologue. You will never make me cry in an audition, but you might make me laugh or at least chuckle.” Best foot forward and wishing you blessings, good weather, health, and a “yes.” ¡Feliz Año Nuevo! <:-P
My D got her academic acceptance to U Minn over the weekend
When did you apply? We have several schools we are waiting on. I was wondering if sometimes they hold the academic acceptance until they hear from the audition.
I am in Chicago right now on a quick getaway- and took my 1st trip to Do-Rite this morning… I never got over there D’s unifieds year (2014)- in fact I don’t even remember it being mentioned in the unifieds conversations, though to be fair, I was focusing on other elements at the time. Anyway, I can finally say - it really IS as good as everyone here says it is- wowzers!
@toowonderful I have no idea what you’re talking about LOL! @musicmama123 my D applied to U Minn on 11/1
Anyone that applied to the Hartt school know anything about scholarships there? I’m reading that they offer no merit , only talent to conservatory students?
@marg928 - a doughnut place in Chicago a couple blocks from the Palmer house
Do-Rite is not simply a “doughnut place” anymore than Hamilton is a “musical” (smile). Do-Rite is a culinary phenomenon at which your wildest breakfast dreams will be satisfied by the likes of Valrhona Chocolate Cake (finished with a swirl of chocolate ganache), Gingerbread Gumdrop Old Fashioned, and my favorite: lemon glazed topped with candied lemon zest.
My D sent in her prescreen for Elon but I thought they didn’t recommend applying to the university until you received a call back. Did I misunderstand that? Should she apply? I see a lot of comments that students have applied.
@shanaboo this is copied and pasted from Elon’s BFA MT Acceptd page:
Please note that in addition to completing the department audition process, acceptance to our department also requires admission to Elon University. You can complete these in either order, so long as you meet all relevant deadlines for both. The deadline for Elon’s general admission is January 10, 2017.
@theaterwork - three years ago, my S was waitlisted by BW before winter break (November audition) - and remained on the WL until well into May. In all that time, he NEVER got an official academic admission from BW. I finally called admissions in January just to make sure they had received all his application materials. The admissions person said, “yes, everything’s in order and he qualifies for one of our merit scholarships.” It wasn’t until he was officially rejected from the MT program, that he started getting “Welcome to BW” mail. Hopefully, things have changed since then.
@EmsDad - apologies … I was going for brevity not exposition. For example- if someone asked me “what is Hamilton?” I would answer “a musical”. THEN if they showed further interest I would talk about what makes it special Do-Rite did have all kinds of fabulousness happening, but I was just trying to help Marg understand my earlier comment
Thanks so glad I looked at CC. Trying to keep up with so many admissions, prescreens, and auditions is crazy!
If you go to the Do-Rite near the Water Tower Place, they do a chicken sandwich on a glazed donut, just sayin. (My S used to work there, but doesn’t anymore, so sadly, I cannot hook anyone else up with free donuts.)
^^yum!
Where was this when I lived there?
Ahhh Do-Rite. So thankful it was mentioned on here before our Unifieds. The folks in our room may (or may not :P) have made 3-4 trips while we were there. Strongly recommend you get online and order your donuts or paczki the night before so you’ll be guaranteed the flavor you want. Or get there early so you can have your pick of the specials (we just missed out on some malted milk chocolate ones last year and I’m still bitter). If you can get a paczki, which they make during a short period leading up to Fat Tuesday, I will say the nutella paczki and the key lime paczki were big hits. And, their buttermilk old-fashioned donut was the best I’ve ever had. I love donuts. OK. Back to your regularly scheduled venting thread.
