^^i second that
@musicmama123 The BW acceptance that we knew from MTCA was from regular auditions not the MTCA one~
@sabersunshine @owensfolks We were there yesterday too. Great experience and beautiful campus~
@Mtmomkbh & @sabersunshine what a great day! Junior year, Belmont was very, very high on my D’s list: We did a tour that September and she absolutely loved it. This year, a little to my disappointment-she has been favoring larger campuses, and was a bit intimidated, frankly, that MT is under the Music School umbrella: D is an actress and dancer…and then a singer. But yes, they wowed her yesterday. She is excited and hopeful. Said about 90 auditioned for MT yesterday-would you say that’s about right?
@owensfolks it was a great day! My D loved Belmont and the audition process. I would guess around 75-90 were there yesterday. I do believe they commented it was the largest scheduled audition group for MT this year. Do you know when the kids might hear the audition results? March?
@sabersunshine I think in the packet that we parents received it said that they would hear in 2-3 weeks! BAL to your D!!!
FYI MTCA posted the Sunday acceptances and they were mostly BW. Six MT acceptances and five wait listed.
So after hearing the BW acceptances…wow should we even still attend the feb audition we have scheduled? Seems like there aren’t going to be any slots left …
@theaterwork - it has been said over and over here (and I think it’s true) colleges wouldn’t hold/go to auditions if they didn’t have spots left…
I have no idea what BWs yield is- remember that most schools make more offers than they need.
Most of these kids will have multiple offers so definitely don’t let that discourage you!
Ok just starting to get a bit on edge from all this. Stress…
Just FYI- Friend of D just posted an acceptance for Otterbein on FB (picture of the letter) from January 14th audition.
I’m getting ready for Unifieds and am finalizing my D’s resume and printing them out. She has representation but we had not previously indicated that on her resume. Now I’m thinking maybe she should…but I don’t know. Can it possibly hurt her? Her “Work Experience” section is non-existent mainly because she’s too busy to work, and with two agents she needs to have her time free for when she gets called for next day auditions. I’m thinking maybe she should say something about that in the Work Experience section because really that’s her job in a sense. Thoughts?
@marg928 If I am remembering correctly (which I may not be) a similar question was posted a few months back and a few people responded that they didn’t list representation. My D isn’t represented so we didn’t have that issue. I’m sure others on here can add better advice.
My daughter has had representation for years, and we did not put in on her resume for college auditions. Most of the folks we know in the same situation did not either.
We didn’t put representation on the college resume. It’s not relevant to your prospective education. In fact, it risks sending the wrong message, that you may pull out of the program early for a ‘good’ offer.
@marg928, As far as "Work experience"in your resume-- Yes, if you are working professionally, that’s your work experience. You don’t need to say that though; it would be obvious
For setting up a resume for a BFA, if you have a lot of professional/semi-pro acting experience, you could also consider making a separate acting resume. You can call it just that. Or you can put the acting resume within the ‘regular’ college resume, with Education first. Then after Education you would put your Acting credits: Just as with a regular theatre/acting resume, you’d list the shows, roles, director/theatre (only list shows while in high school, unless the ones before were very significant, e.g. Broadway or a major film, or if you got a significant award from it). If the theatre is regional equity, you can say so if you think it’s a theatre the school might not have heard of. Don’t forget to also list any awards you might have gotten.
Of course, for Employment, you may also have worked as a babysitter or lawn mower, or whatever, and you can put that after your theatre credits, under “Employment.” If you haven’t worked in anything else, do not put anything under “Employment.” Then after that, you’d put anything else, e.g. clubs or leadership activities.
Hope this isn’t too much detail. It sounds more confusing when I type it out like this!
Has anyone experienced signing up for auditions, and then following up multiple times, never to hear back? What do you do? Remove them from your list as it’s mid-January, or keep chasing them? This has happened for two schools.
How did everyone’s weekend auditions go? D was happy with how her audition went on Saturday at Rider - first one out of the gate. About 30 kids and they were doing I believe 3 sessions that day. The best she can do is come out feeling things went well - the rest is up to admissions. 6 more to go! BAL to all upcoming weekend auditions!
@LBSMOM My S auditioned at Rider this weekend too. What a great experience…they were very welcoming. He also felt good about his audition…hopefully they will all get good news!
@CentralOHmomof4 yes, this has happened to us as well. One we gave up on and one we called until we spoke to someone in charge.
