Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@fancytheatrekid I’ve searched Facebook for green room and I’m not finding the right group. Is it a closed group?

@actingdreams I hope @toowonderful doesn’t mind if I jump in on your question regarding Tisch! My D graduated in May. In her senior year she was in Stonestreet Studios. In that group about 50% had signed with agents by the end of their senior year and a few of them who didn’t sign with agents still had some projects lined up once they graduated. My D ended up signing with an agent 2 months later but it was an agent she had originally met through a Tisch industry night.

Thanks @jbtcat. I would think that being in proximity to plenty of work, it would probably benefit Tisch students. The connections seem to be worth attending if nothing else. I do know of several tisch graduates that are working in LA and Georgia now as producers however they graduated at least 10-15 years ago. Things seem to change quickly in this business and I’m sure the approach to work is quite different

@MThopeful2022 The Green Room (I think it’s just for kids but I got in) Closed Group “Preparing the class of 2022 for the upcoming audition season! Break legs xoxo”

@fancytheatrekid i have heard about a few phone acceptance calls from Wagner too! Sunday night and last night. I am dying to know what that means?! And are all of the offers made or are more still coming?!

Ugh -now I am stressing more about Wagner

@actingdreams - @jbtcat is right on the money. My D is also in stonestreet this year… and one of the major reasons she wanted to do it is the industry connections. NYU no longer does a showcase - each studio handles that in their own way. Many (most?) have “industry nights” at various productions - which could be great if your kid has a big part, but maybe not so great if they don’t. Stonestreet has 15 per semester, and what you do is tailored to whom is coming to watch. (there are monologues, scenes, songs - varies week to week) D, and many of her friends, have started having professional connections (being sent to auditions, getting agents etc) via industry nights. One of D’s good friends signed with a manager last week, and D has gotten some really cool options out of it as well. As far as I know pretty much everyone in stonestreet has gotten some “interest” - don’t know exact %s. Another super cool thing they have been doing is putting kids in touch with grad film students - D has been in a number of student films… and those may be the people creating the work in years to come - plus it’s great for your reel. If NYU is on your list — I highly highly recommend a stint at stonestreet. (can be done in either junior/senior year… 1 semester or 2)

My S Wagner package is sitting on the dining room table drying out from weather, waiting for end of rehearsal at 4:30pm…grinning! Big week for him!! Will let you know; he didn’t recieve a call.

No word from anywhere in days. This is awful.

@toowonderful junior/senior year sessions. I had no idea they existed! I will pass them on. Thanks so much.

@actingdreams - there are 2 studios at NYU that are only for advanced training; classical and stonestreet

@fancytheatrekid when you say you “got in” do you mean you joined the kids group?

Why would Wagner call some and not others? A package sounds like an acceptance too! So confusing. My daughter received a message from a voice teacher saying he’d like to work with her but no acceptance or rejection yet.

Another rejection. A big one. D is devastated. I’m starting to panic
Totally want this month to be over so we know where we are. Can’t seem to think of much else and hard to focus on anything else ! Sorry but I know you understand in this group !

Ugh I am so sorry @Trish0118 . This process can be so awful.

@Trish0118 Hang in there! It is hard to think about anything else!

@Trish0118 I feel your pain. My daughter was rejected from her top choice school, the one she called her “dream” school, on the day that the high school musical opened. A show in which she played the lead. There were a lot of tears. And that night on stage you would never have known. Two weeks later, mid-March, she was accepted to the school she now attends and loves. Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat. You’ll get through this.

Yes. I don’t say anything that sounds like a mom

So sorry @Trish0118 I feel like each rejection is harder than the last. I hope you hear good news soon.

All my D’s friends who auditioned at Chicago are also waiting - Good luck!
