Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

I’m having this weird application envy. S auditioned for 14 programs (Acting and MT) and has heard from 9. His results are across the board with a mix of acceptances, rejections, and WL so far with some good options. But every time the chatter starts on here that decisions are coming for a program where he didn’t apply, I start second guessing his list and wondering why he didn’t apply there. Ugh! So happy that it is Friday and there will definitely be wine in my future this weekend! These next few weeks need to pass so I can return to the quasi-sane person that I vaguely remember. Of course another solution would be to cut back on checking the College Confidential posts every few hours but where is the fun in that? Congrats to everyone who heard good news this week!

question about PACE…did they send ‘no thank you’ emails out yet, or just calling with offers???

Also, question about PACE. If the portal reads, “decision has been made and you will receive a letter in the mail” does that mean a “No”?? What does the portal say with the accepted BFA students?

@mtdreamz and @danils Good questions!! Inquiring minds would like to know!

Don’t know about portal but probably no or wait-listed - an email would have been nice since everyone knows something is happening today. So I’m guessing mine is not on their first round of acceptances. Good thing this one wouldn’t be crushing for us… we’re getting kinda used to rejection #:-S

Last year, Pace called on March 8th for those accepted and my D’s rejection came in the mail the end of March.

The PACE portal has nothing to do with the BFA decisions. That is the standard admissions jargon. You’ll get a separate letter for BFA that won’t be reflected by portal. I also would not lose hope. Initial offers are not only offers.

@LBSMOM my son was an early accept to both VP and MT at Baldwin Wallace. We’ve had an overnight at the school and have fallen more in love with the school, teachers and program.

Anyone here from cal arts!???

Na

Any one here get rejections from purchase???

@actingmommy88 This is the musical theater message board so you won’t find too many who applied there on here since those schools don’t have MT programs. You might want to look at this page: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/theater-drama-majors/2036198-acting-acceptances-for-class-of-2022-by-member-name.html#latest

For people hearing from CAP21-email or snail mail?

@actingmommy88 Nothing on Purchase here. From last year, it looks like decisions went out around the 15th or so

Pace has alternates/waitlist. So hang in there! I think the notifications of alternate/waitlist are by mail. I’m guessing most of the calls happened today, but not completely sure. In my daughter’s class, there are many alternates. It may the long haul, but some usually come off that list.

@mtmaybe Molloy/Cap 21 was snail mail.

@lots2learn, we put a lot of thought and research into our D’s list but I still feel the same anxiety that you do when people post acceptances to schools she didn’t apply to. My D’s list was a joint effort of schools she wanted to apply to, schools her high school director recommended plus a few I encouraged her to apply to based on research of old threads on CC followed by internet research. At times it was a heated negotiation. There were a few schools that looked like a really good fit to me but I couldn’t convince her to apply to them. I was able to convice her to add two walk ins at Unifieds so she ended up with a list of 15 or 16 schools but I would have preferred fewer reaches, more safeties and at least one non-audition school. My H told me on several occasions that this is our D’s journey, not ours and we have to let her take the lead. Sometimes I wanted to pull my hair out and tell them that they didn’t understand how competitive this is and that she could end up with no options. After the first few rejections, my D had a few days of doubt and we had one conversation about a gap year but then she got two exciting acceptances within a few days. She is still waiting to hear from a few more schools but the pressure level has definitely changed now that she has options. My prayer for all of our kids is at least one good option.

My (insane) D refused to apply to any non-audition programs or true safety schools… her version of a ‘safety’ school was anything not on her top 10 list

@MTdreamz Where did your daughter audition? Mine did MYC Unifieds and the Dean was there and her dance call was close to 90 minutes I think, I am assuming your daughter was at BBT? If so and you went to the closing show my girl was one of the two girls who danced to She Used To Be Mine. She also was the girl who received the scholarship for this summer. Having a program with strong dance is very important to us as well. She has been dancing since 3 and was competitive for many years and has danced in a few companies. Going to a MT program that doesn’t value the work and time she has put in to dance is not an option for her. She actually received an amazing offer yesterday that we are mulling over by a school that she had already been accepted for BFA MT. They called and asked her to work with their dance department and get her BFA in Dance as a second major. We are going to do a conference call Monday and go visit the program and see exactly how they will set it up for her in a couple of weeks. I think her whole #1/#2/#3 may be shifting. The stress is giving me anxiety LOL

@emdcollege my daughter was the other girl!!! Haha small world! She also danced competitively and was in the Company at a ballet studio. She auditioned for Roosevelt as part of Chicago unifieds but it was on the campus. They had 2 rooms for song/mono and he was in the other room - and she knows he would have remembered her because he said no one would forget her smile in her intervieew at the camp  they also told her she would get in based on her dance ability but like I said they cut the dance audition short so the one school she was confident about kinda went down the tubes. Although we haven’t heard from them yet.
