Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@1cynthiac - first congratualtions on the Ithaca acceptance. that’s a big one! I think @lincoln56 has a daughter who is a freshman there and can tell you about her experience.

@1bamom I agree on Columbia Chicago!! The principal at our K-8 school has a daughter that just graduated from that school. She had originally attended a very selective BFA program, but was not getting cast in anything. She had a number of friends dealing with the casting thing and they all left their schools and went to Colombia/Chicago. They all absolutely loved it and graduated with a very high opinion of the program. He daughter is now working in the theater circuit in Chicago and is very happy!

I think calls are being made Thursday per my S.

@Troykat Calls for what?

Are we still thinking Point Park emails will come out today? If anyone hears from them, please let the rest of us know!

@dramamama2022 I heard Point Park is today via email around 3:30, Emerson is tomorrow and Syracuse starts Friday and will continue for the next few Fridays.

Break Legs everyone!

Here’s to hoping that all of our kids land where they are supposed to be!

@MTMOM17, our kids must think alike. My D is waiting for all of those plus Webster and University of Miami.

LOL @dramamama2022, we are waiting for University of Miami, too, plus a few others!

No. We met with a current Freshman MT at CMU who was missing singing…

@actingdreams Stellar-Adler is pre- & professional training company, not a college program. They offer training year round. It would be very helpful to have a list of these companies, as an option. There are a number of them out there, many, like SA in NYC.

@#booknerdmom I know. I was just throwing out some options with extended application deadlines just in case it helps someone.

@DramaQueen219 Columbia college is good but it isn’t great for MT. I’m going to be honest. They produce a lot for film/directing however their program for MT and Acting/Drama isn’t the best for the cost of their tuition (and it is up there) It’s still an option.

SCAD Savannah College of Art and Design has a beautiful Campus and an entire section for Drama/Film/MT/TV. Although this department isn’t decades old, they have casting agents on site and the students are creating pilots for many stations while in school. I was able to attend one of their MT shows last year and it was really good. SCAD wasn’t for my S for many other reasons but 3 of his classmates that graduated 2 years ago already have work lined up for Netflix and shooting a pilot for HULU. They accept on a rolling bases and give a little bit more Merit and talent scholarships than Columbia does and tuition is a little less if that is also a concern

if you google or yelp the reviews, you will find current students and graduates to get a feel from their experiences. Many are recent

My D says PP and pace are both Thursday,…and I should stop bugging her

Hi, being a meddling Mom here; my D has finished auditions and stands at one “yes,” 5 “no,” and 7 “don’t know yet.” I have a suspicion that she may have missed answers from a couple of programs, though. Has anyone else NOT heard from: UW-Stevens Point (auditioned Chicago Unifieds) or University of Tampa (auditioned Dec 3)? Do either of those notify via a portal rather than email/letter? (She is assuming that Tampa was a “no” since it was her very first audition and she said it was terrible.) Thanks for any info!

I’ve officially lost my mind. I’ve been off a day all week. I was sure WEDNESDAY was 3/15. It’s not. Egads!

@catznpigz U of Tampa was an email and then a snail mail package

Called the BSU theatre and dance office and they reported that no priority or regular waitlist students have been contacted yet.

@singdanceact67 you’re just now losing your mind? :)) you have some catching up to do with the rest of us! LOL

@actingdreams I respectfully disagree about Columbia College but wholeheartedly agree about SCAD. I thought after my post that I should have mentioned it as well. It is a very hot school right now; I keep hearing people bring it up in performing arts education conversations, although it doesn’t have a BFA in MT last I looked (a performing arts BFA I believe). The point is that there are still great options, and as stories on this board attest again and again, there are some amazing places out there that many don’t put on their initial list.

@Luciamom Point Park will be this afternoon
