Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@Trish0118 and @fancytheatrekid we are still in the same boat. Another rejection this week. One more left. I’m tired of having the energy sucked out of me and my d regarding all this.

Hey all!! Does anyone remember when NYU sends out notifications?

@jenrenalt - NYU sent an email stating that they will send the out notification on or before April 1. The email gives you a link to a portal where the notification will be listed. It will also be available on your application portal - but only after the email is sent to you.

NYU, USC and BoCo are some of the last. Can be as late as April 1st

@owensfolks - what did your daughter do during that year? we’ve had that discussion. thanks to everyone else posting the tough road this has been. helps. a lot.

to follow up a bit on @owensfolks comments about a gap year…we had a little bit of a different situation…My DD chose a well regarded program that ended up NOT being the right choice after all…after some deliberation, she decided to leave school after one semester and jump into this crazy process for a second time. It was a disappointing and difficult Fall but once we made the decision to move forward, things got better. I agree with @owensfolks that the year did bring a different level of maturity to the process and a better perspective of the things that are really important to her in a program. We were initially very scared about the prospect of her being home, lonely, bored etc. She got a part time job and continued to train–between that and the freedom to travel to auditions, it actually went by a lot faster and a lot more positively than we could have imagined. Of course it was not all easy but we tried to keep focus on the goal knowing that she chose this path. I know that as mom’s and dads it is heart breaking to see your child start to question their worth and their talent–I have been there…but these kids are STRONG. They will surprise you with resilience and strength because even though this audition process is what is taking center stage (sorry for that) it is only part of their story…they have worked tirelessly up until now to hone their craft and they will continue to find ways to do that when this process is behind them…it may not be the exact path you envisioned, but I’m here on the other side to tell you that it’s OK to change course.

After going through this process last year with my daughter, I’ve been lurking and following, crossing my fingers for all of you. Such an incredibly stressful process.

I wanted to reach out to anyone accepted at Elon (including @twobusymom and @mandidnam). If you are able to get to the Grand Night performance in two weeks, it would give a great insight into the program. And if anyone has any questions about my freshman daughter’s experience there, please feel free to PM me.

Good luck to all as this process winds down.

Can anyone tell me if they have heard of anyone NOT getting into George Mason MT program? It is one of the five schools D currently has artistic acceptance to and is also the most affordable so far (still waiting on two which are definitely going to be more costly if she gets in.) She is refusing to even consider GMU since she believes the program must not be good since she has never heard of anyone not getting in. Trying to find evidence to the contrary.

My daughter was told that the “Green Room”. FB page said the same thing; however, she had two friends get phone calls last week. She knows one rec’d an email asking if they could call later that night. They called and he was accepted. Both students are very strong singers and one has never had dance. My D is more of a dancer so still praying!

@jkl745 what school are you referring to?

I’d be interested to hear about The GMU program too @collegemom2000 - thinking of applying they have an audition on 4/21 but don’t know much about it- someone in here posted about it being new but good ?

@Trish0118 I think the theatre department is good. But I’m starting to think their program is more or less a non-audition school with an audition (meaning they have you audition but they let everyone in.)

Are we the only ones still waiting for Hartt?
I do see some acceptances on the Thread by College…

@DramaRama We are waiting for Hartt, CAP21 and Viterbo. They have all sent out some acceptances, so we are getting antsy!

Still waiting and hoping for Hartt. How many girls do they take MT?

@fancytheatrekid Hartt generally looks for a class of around 24-28 evenly split between boys and girls. My daughter’s current freshman class of 34 is a little larger than average and includes 18 girls.

Thanks- D really wants Hartt. But she auditioned late February and they’ve already accepted people. How much more room can there be? Thx @sopranomtmom

@fancytheatrekid I sent you a message - check your inbox - we are waiting on Hartt too. We auditioned 2/24. I had to restrain myself from driving home from work during lunch to check the mailbox. :-S

We are also waiting on Hartt and Webster and Texas Tech. Ready to be done with this part!

Still waiting for Pace!!!
