Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@DramaRama we are waiting for Hartt for acting. But if you look at the old threads in the Hartt folder above (the section where all the different schools are listed), it seems that in previous years, their notifications trickled out through the beginning of April. Last year, someone was accepted on March 30th. The year before, someone was notified that they were on the waitlist on April 4th. So don’t give up hope!

My S received letter decline from Pace for the acting programs today, letter date 3/15, postmark 3/22, received today. He auditioned NYC Unified weekend, for all 3 acting programs. Not sure if that’s helpful for you MT folks.

@MTdreamz and @DramaMan we’ll be @ BSU to tour and see ACL on Thursday and Friday of this week…first of five “official visits”, then onto Ohio for two more, Chicago on the way back from Ohio and then Webster in mid-April.

Has anyone heard from Texas State? I haven’t heard anything since I was given the consideration email in January. Thanks!

@MTdreamz we will just miss you at BSU. My D and I are seeing ACL on Sat night! (Sorry, that was for you MTdaughter99. The “MT” led me astray.)

@MTdaughter99 where are you going in Ohio? My D at a master class at BSU as we speak. 3 other kids were here today and they went to several classes. We see the show tomorrow. Haven’t talked to her yet about her day. She only has 2 choices and they are totally different environments but have a feeling this won’t be easy. Such a big decision…

@DramaRama @belleforbroadway @BassTheatreMom
I’m just wondering when did your kids audition for Hartt? I think they notify by audition date …we auditioned 2/24 - hoping to hear this week. Hoping all our kids get in !!! You can message me thx

@Trish0118 I am pretty sure it was Feb 9th, @ LA Unifieds… :slight_smile:

@Trish0118 D auditioned at Chicago Unifieds. :slight_smile:

Sorry for being such a pain… Let’s be direct to get out of this misery:

Is there anyone out there who auditioned for Hartt during LA Unifieds who has:

  • Received an acceptance?
  • Received a rejection?
  • been waitlisted?

Thanks so much!!!

@CalebAM…Texas State sends emails via GetAcceptd, so make sure you are checking there.

So since TXST was a walk in and I was tapped out, they allowed me to submit my materials directly to the head of the program.

@DramaRama I know this won’t help much but my D’s friend auditioned on campus for Hartt the weekend before LA Unifieds and got a rejection.

@MTdreamz we’re visiting ONU in Ada on 4/4, Otterbein on 4/5 (“Thoroughly Modern Millie”) and then CCPA @ Roosevelt in Chicago (“Urinetown”) on 4/6…Whew! Then we get a well-deserved break until 4/18 when we visit Webster (“Brigadoon”)…Only decision pending is BoCo which I sort of hope DOESN’T come through for her so that we don’t have to plan another short-notice visit (It was a video submission anyway, and one of the things I’ve sensed about this process is that in-person auditions seem to be favored over video auditions)…anyway my D is fortunate to have so many choices of MT college programs, even considering all the hard work she’s put in the last 7-8 years to get to this point, just because of the small percentages of those accepted.

@DramaRama, my daughter auditioned Feb. 9th at LA Unifieds and got her “NO” from Hartt this past Saturday via snail mail.

My son was notified by Texas State that he was on “priority hold” and then was later notified he was rejected. No news is good news?

@theatremom10 my son got accepted to CCPA in MT and I’d love to talk to you about it. Does your son like it? Are the people nice or do you have to navigate egos? Are there performance opportunities for Freshman? Do you think the classes are challenging? Thanks in advance!

@MTdaughter99 we know people who graduated from and currently at ONU. Are you going to the CCPA open house? My D liked Ball more than she thought she would. These guys really know how to sell their program! I thought this would be the easy part, but I’m getting really stressed about making the wrong choice. She tends to love wherever she is at! I hope she will know what to do because I don’t!

@MTdreamz No we are just touring CCPA and then going to their musical (well, my D and my wife are going - it’s a Friday and they were sold out of tix to “Urinetown” - imagine that! - but the CCPA tour coordinator managed to squeezed out two more)…We were returning to our home in Omaha via Chicago anyway so we just booked an extra one-way flight for the next day.

I’m sure your D will make the best decision for her, as long as she doesn’t make any “snap” decisions and gives herself time to weigh out all of the pro’s and con’s of a given program…and what’s best for your D might be different than what is best for mine.

It will likely be stressful for us as well regarding the “right choice” for our D, but her mom and I agreed to make sure our D makes her choice without us influencing her …we don’t want that nightmare scenario to play out where our D ends up eventually hating a program that we “steered” her towards…now if something really wonky about a particular MT program jumps out at us, but not necessarily at our D, we’ll be sure to point it out to her.

Regarding Ball - one of our D’s “Broadway idols” is Sutton Foster (she refers to SF as her “Queen” LOL), and with SF being on BSU’s MT faculty I’m wondering if that will play into her decision a bit “too” much…But we know D has a good head on her shoulders and has told us she is not going to make any decision until after the Webster visit in mid-April (we won’t let her anyway LOL)…that “final decision” conversation will likely be interesting and stressful at the same time!

Wagner College…any others headed there in the fall. My S got a yes and has made his final decision to attend. Would love to hear of any others. Congrats and good luck to all!
