Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@actorparent1 and @vvnstar thank you! Great responses.

Wow. I’m just… wow. We have a school. D has been accepted at LIU for the BFA in MT. When I think of the number of things we almost didn’t do - like send her to unifieds to do walk-in auditions - I am stunned. It is almost too much to take in. This is the universe telling us she needs to be there. I am beyond grateful for all the support from everyone in this thread. I will continue to follow your stories. My first thought was “thank god!” My second thought was “what about all my CC friends who are still waiting for something to happen??? I need them to have a happy ending too!” (Cross posted on another thread)

Yay!!! @NewEngMTMom So glad to hear this!!!

YAY YAY YAY YAY @NewEngMTMom !!! Knowing that your D is coming off a gap year (as mine is), I know that the stakes feel/felt even higher; as we want our gals to be able to create art somewhere. So happy for you-and I agree-sending out good wishes for those still waiting.

@NewEngMTMom Congratulations!!!

congrats @NewEngMTMom

YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS @NewEngMTMom HOORAY!!!

@NewEngMTMom Hooray!!! I’m so excited for your D and for you! I hope this is the beginning of many more good things for her! It does sound like the universe aligned for her to go there!

Woo hoo, @NewEngMTMom !! Now you can both breathe!

Totally thrilled for you and your D @NewEngMTMom !!! I hope you are celebrating tonight!

@NewEngMTMom -this is great news!!! So happy for you.

Congrats @NewEngMTMom!!! What great news.

@NewEngMTMom I couldn’t be happier for you. You only need one! You must feel great!

Has anyone gotten off of waitlists? Or notified schools they won’t be attending? D waiting on Wagner. :-/

^^Most wait list movement is after May 1 when the National Reply Date is over. Keep in mind, as well, at many schools, even if someone who is accepted doesn’t attend, it doesn’t mean that the college (program) goes to the waitlist. Most colleges accept more students than spots available, hoping to yield the number of spots to fill. Only if those spots still are not full, do they go to the waitlist and often cannot get a full idea of that until after May 1.

@NewEngMTMom wonderful news! My daughter just got back from her visit to LIU and is very likely to attend there.

Thanks @soozievt ! This is helpful. Forgive me if this is a dumb question or already covered elsewhere, but how does a family maneuver the concept of putting down a deposit at one school by May 1 deadline, only to still be waiting for WL information for another school in May (or later)?

@back2work - You stand ready to lose your deposit at school #1 if your kid gets in off the waitlist and decides to attend school # 2. Although some schools will refund it; it doesn’t hurt to ask.
