Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@fancytheatrekid - call them and see if they are still taking videos. Fingers crossed!

@onewaytobroadway - I love your post. My S didn’t do well in MT prescreens, but was successful in the Acting ones (and is basing his decisions on where he can sing - he’s HAPPY not to dance). I still love to visit the MT boards. Everyone is so suppportive. I’m going to be sad on May 1 when most decisions are made - though I guess I can still root for everyone to get their waitlist slots.

@onewaytobroadway your thoughts about feeling like you “know” so many parents and kids here that you are praying and rooting for are very similar to mine. I don’t post much, but I’ve read this board religiously ever since one of my D’s teachers told me about it back when she was in 7th grade (she’s in 10th now). Since my D is only in 10th and hasn’t experienced the college audition process yet I don’t often feel like I have anything meaningful to contribute (except sometimes on summer program threads), and I don’t have any close friends whose kids were auditioning this year, so my husband has had to listen to me ramble on and on about about different kids I was pulling for. And when fancytheaterkid and Trish0118 shared their good news in the last week I was jumping for joy and I excitedly ran into my H’s office (he works from home) to tell him the good news (and I accidentally interrupted a phone meeting, lol)! Last year when @owensfolks and her D were understandably stressed out and worried I had reached out to her to ask a question about a summer program, and in the midst of it all she couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful to me and my D, despite all she and her D were going through…so I have also been overjoyed about all the success her D has had this year after making the decision to do a gap year last year. And then tonight at dinner I was telling my husband about @FirstLobster’s and @theaterwork’s thoughtful posts over on the thread about training and performing.

All that to say…I truly hope that all the parents of kids auditioning this year can feel the love and good thoughts that all of us lurkers and rare posters are sending your way. We can’t wait to read about your kids’ final decisions and hear about their future successes!

Hi- my son released from BW yesterday- so things are moving !

@muttsandMT you just made my night! You are a gem-lots of good stuff in store for your D. I have made so many valuable connections on CC! I am currently trying to wean myself, just a bit; off of commenting, and posting so frequently: We are nearing the end of our search/decision phase. Lol, D has been like. “Mom-promise me you’ll stop logging in there once I’m in college!” As if

Just discovered this thread this week thanks to @onewaytobroadway and am so enjoying it! I’ve learned so much already. I wish I had known about it earlier. Congrats to all of you for just getting through this process! I am very grateful my D has a school to go to, although it was not high on her list and we’re really hoping one of her WLs will come through. I particularly liked reading posts from people in casting and about the alternative paths kids have taken. I wish all of your wonderful kids success on this crazy journey, whatever that turns out to be for them!

@owensfolks … Your post have been so uplifting!

@mom4MTsoprano , really nice to see you here. At least we had each other and now we are a part of this bigger group. And maybe we can help in contributing our insight to next years group!

congrats @Notmommarose on getting off of the WL (if that is what being released is)

@owensfolks I hope you don’t stop commenting! I have been lurking for awhile getting ready for my own child’s year and following your D’s story has been inspirational. Your posts are always helpful and on point so I hope you don’t disappear from this forum next year!

I called MMC and was told that she could enter this year in theatre studies or undecided, take dance classes maybe, get gen eds done and definitely can audition in her freshman spring for MT and if accepted will start as a sophomore in MT in the fall. Doubt we will go this route, just want D to see all her options. Thanks, Everybody

@fancytheatrekid I see what they are doing there! You can start as a sophomore in the fall, essentially getting most of your other academics out of the way, and getting to take more theater classes the next year. That would be a good plan B. Also, she would be able to meet people and make contacts, and get in the “back door”.

But it’s only for students who never auditioned, but yes-she would know people already! Good plan B!

@Notmommarose was he waitlisted originally? How was he notified?

I’m a current Elon Acting BFA. Many MTs get casted in plays and it’s not uncommon to see them playing one of the principal roles. You don’t see as many Acting majors in musicals probably because singing/dance are not necessarily our strongest suits. It happens, and it will happen if you can sing and dance as well as the MTs!

No he let the school go/ the acceptance. Trying to borrow down .

He was not waitlisted. He was accepted on 3/8. But he is choosing between BFA acting. So he let BW go, as a choice, sorry for miscommunication.

@back2work when she got the call she was told.

So has anyone heard from Texas Tech? At this point I’m assuming not hearing from them is a rejection, which quite frankly doesn’t even make a difference any more

Keep getting cut off

@Cluelessandtired We have not heard a thing but one young man that my daughter knows was notified that he had been accepted. I believe he heard week before last. Tech and Molloy/Cap21 are the only programs we have yet to hear from. It’s frustrating.
