Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

Are there any parents of current Otterbein Musical Theatre or Florida State Musical Theatre students who are willing to chat with me?

@eks2018 hi! My daughter is on ball state waitlist also. Any clue if they follow up even if you aren’t selected? Thanks!

@singdanceact67 hi! I’m tagging an Otterbein mom who would be a great resource for your questions! @kksmom5

@savedrama4momma, thanks!

@NewEngMTMom I’m so so happy for you and your D! As a parent of another girl who struggled through this process with multiple rejections initially, I am ecstatic when I hear the good news that others have to share!

Any movement on the BW waiting list?

@Luciamom I have not heard of any movement off the BW WL yet.

Does anyone know if CCPA has a parents facebook page? TIA

@fancytheatrekid Marymount Manhattan was taking video audition submissions also. My D sent in a video audition for their BFA Acting program and was accepted. Good luck!

@jenniferm1973 When did she send?

@lalalovesmusic3 Sent you a pm!

And, we’re done! Released PPU and BW today. He’s headed to Shenandoah, and could not be more happy. It was a very early favorite, although he kept an open mind throughout.

I got some feedback from a well placed source that the talent level among the boys was insane this year! One person apparently mentioned that they could have filled their entire class just from the first day of Unifieds.

@FirstLobster and everyone else who made it through to the other side, you should write an entry in the final decisions section! I love reading the full story of how a decision was made and i think it’s really helpful for the next year’s class…http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/musical-theater-major/2059578-final-mt-decisions-background-class-of-2022.html#latest

Congratulations, @FirstLobster!

I found this thread a week ago because someone had posted it to the MT Acceptances page (I’m not really sure how I found that one) I’just recently joined, although we’ve used CC for years! This is my third child to go through the college process. My first S, is at USC in the school or Journalism, second is a D, at Loyola Chicago for PreMed/Neuroscience. Now my third is a D in MT. Very different processes and nothing could have prepared me for the world of MT. When I found this thread it was on page 255 and there was no way I was going to try to catch up from the beginning, so I went back in time to March 1 (which was around page 134/135). It has taken me a week in my spare time to catch up to present. Boy do I wish I would have known about your guys earlier, preferably from the beginning. It would have been so helpful during the really stressful times. I was fortunate enough to have two friends in the process that I could text, and did many times and I think we kept eachother sane. Reading this past month’s worth of posts I laughed out loud as I identified with the mailman, college portal stalking! Thank God I wasn’t the only crazy nut out there! I cried at the anguish of rejections and the growing discouragement at the lack of acceptances. I found myself rooting for and silently praying for some of you “please God give Trish0118 and fancytheaterkid an acceptance they feel excited about about.” I sent this link to one of my friends in the process and we started texting eachother about it! Two nights ago I caught up to Trish0118 and fancytheaterkid getting acceptances and just let out a giant whoop of joy, and I’m texting my friend, like we know you all or something, and in many ways we do… We just went through the same process, at the same schools, had the same ups and downs, worries, joys and heartbreaks. I love the way you guys support each other here. I will tell you all our story soon. This post is already too long, but I’m really glad I found you, even if it’s just for the tail end of this crazy train!

@fancytheatrekid she submitted in early February (while we were attending Unifieds in Chicago) and she heard back from them a couple of weeks later.

Love that post @onewaytobroadway This forum has been such a source of encouragement and a wealth of information. I honestly would have felt so alone and completely overwhelmed with out it. Fellow MT parents just “get it”.

Congrats to everyone for getting to this point in the process it has been a long time coming! It is so exciting! I am cheering for those of you still waiting for waitlist movement and deciding between different offers. We are almost at the finish line and I can hardly wait. We go to one more accepted students day next week at U Mich and hopefully will be committing after that. My S has declined 3 of his offers, and will decline the other one after next weekend. Hopefully that will help some other kids out there. He only has one waitlist (UNCSA) so he will also notify them. Here is to a great finish for all of us and our kiddos!

@onesteptobroadway So kind of you to be praying for us. Thanks to all of you. Such therapy this group has been for me. Thank you!!!

@cassidysmom I am 90% sure they will follow up with you regardless!
