Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

Is anyone familiar with the audition process at the University of Miami?

My D is auditioning there next Friday.

Thank you.

@123Mimi , you are so right! Once this nightmare is over and the kids make their final decisions, it’s bittersweet for us parents- in a few short months, they’ll be gone!

@FourStars thank you! I didn’t remember if it was supposed to be an all day affair.

Are there dance calls? Or were the TWO videos from the prescreen enough?

@FourStars can you tell me if there was a dance call at Ithaca? If so, was it first? We will be there Saturday also…(afternoon)

My D did Ithaca at NYC Unifieds. There was no dance call.

Regarding Ithaca, my daughter is straight acting. There was no danc3 call but there was physical and vocal warmup and of course my understanding is that you are always being watched even then .

@MThopeful2022 The Ithaca prescreen dance videos served as the dance call.

So…as i try to brace myself- any rejections yet from Chicago unifieds? (When a school says “rolling” does that mean you find out in a week or 2?) And do they come via email? I think my D will be ok, she is tough and realistic- BUT i can’t help stress that she will be getting these emails at school maybe? Ugh. I find myself praying and/ or obsessing constantly and I’m not usually like this! I just want her to get a yes!!! With all of my being. It’s awful.

@savedrama4momma Based on personal NYC Unified experience, most schools will be in holding until March. Exceptions: CCM is generally quick with a decision if your D auditioned. Ithaca does send out some rejections but others will be waiting until March (possible late March). Each school is different though. Your D may have auditioned for schools who will notify sooner.

This is a great thread to review to see dates of audition vs acceptance. Rejections/re-directs usually come faster than acceptances/waitlists.

@artskids that’s very helpful! Looks like no news before March is actually good news!!! This is going to be the longest 3 weeks ever!

Three weeks is nothing…Lol! If you end up on waitlists it can go on a lot longer than that. My daughter finally chose her school on April 30 and two hours later one of her top choice waitlists came through. Basically we had to wait until May!!! Buckle your seatbelts!

^^^D1 made her decision ON May 1. She came off her last waitlist hours before the deadline. It was a very long spring.

D just got letter - waitlist at Wright State

Has anyone heard back from Penn State? My S auditioned on 2/3 and thought they were notifying within a week but he hasn’t heard anything yet.

Congratulations @PaMTmom !!!

So, she shouldn’t be disappointed by the waitlist? :frowning:

No! Waitlists can be very disappointing but think how much more disappointing it would be if it were a rejection. There is still hope - this is great news!

@MTplayer no she shouldn’t. My daughter came of her waitlist school 4 years ago. It happens more often than not.

@MTplayer every year kids make it off Wright State’s waitlist. And it’s an awesome program. If it’s your D’s top choice, or one of her top choices-she should let them know!
