Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@dontaskme1 Montclair still doing auditions this Saturday and March 24 according to website for Theatre dept

@mtmom911 Even though someone has an agent, it doesn’t mean that their agent will send them out on any one particular audition of their choice. Casting directors work with just so many agents. There are just so many of those appointments or slots for the agents that have been approached. So agents might send 2 or 3 actors for a role and those actors are their favorites. My D has friends with agents who have never sent them for a Broadway show in 5 years. Maybe smaller, regional work, but never anything big. If they want other auditions, they go to open calls and the agent would still get a commission!

@fancytheatrekid OMG the on line sign up is cray cray! I’m helping D while she’s in class this week by signing her up for some EPAs that she selected. You have to be on line right at noon, hit refresh on the audition you want to sign up for, be patient while it whirs (if you start over, you’re at the end of the line), wait for the button to go live, be patient again while you get put in queue, then wait for your turn and hope there’s something left to sign up for. I’ve been on right at noon each day, and still I’m like number 200-something in the line. Even with that, however, she’s been able to get into pretty much everything she wanted to. Last sign up is today. I already have the screen up ready to hit refresh LOL. It’s like trying to buy concert tickets.

@stagedoormama Thanks! D saw similar info in Green room. We really loved it there!!!

I read somewhere that the fine arts awards decisions are made by 03/24 on a former class year’s thread, so my guess is that it will be late next week to give them time to make award decisions. I hope.

@CTDramaMom -Online sign ups is insane! I know they tried to make it better since the previous system kept crashing, but I really don’t think they necessarily improved it for the better. Wish they would put the money towards improving their networks and come up with something that is really functional and equitable for all involved.

@stagedoormama I’m getting good at it! Thinking of hiring myself out for a small fee LOL.

@stagedoormama I do like the queue that shows you where you are in line, and the loud noise when it’s finally your turn so you don’t miss it. And that fact that you can only sign up for one EPA at a clip and have to get back in line for a second, giving everyone a fairer shot at something. Not perfect by any means, but better than the previous system that kept crashing.

Just got rider rejection- status on portal says “Not Admitted Due to Audition”. Auditioned Wed. of Chicago unifieds. Not too bummed-in retrospect I don’t think the program was a great fit for me and I didn’t enjoy my audition. Onto the next!

2wuhanmom, we did look at the decision letter. It says her status should still say “undeclared”. Maybe they just forgot to change her status after she was academically accepted.

k&tmom this has been happening for a lot of people actually I just found out.

@mtmaybe - “Not Admitted Due to Audition”?? Wow, that’s harsh, even for this toxic process. You’ve got a great attitude; any program should be proud to have you!

@k&tmom May I ask when your D auditioned? My D auditioned in Jan after unifieds and her portal says they still haven’t received the audition.

@EastchesterMom thank you! Yes, I was a little put off by that. Admittedly, I didn’t feel very good about my audition, but a simple “rejected” would’ve been just fine.

You’ll find your fit, @mtmaybe - never give up, never surrender!

@EastchesterMom - shout of for the galaxy quest reference - one of my all time favs

Mine too, @toowonderful – it’s been my mantra ever since.

@MThopeful2022, she auditioned for Montclair at NYC Unifieds.

I’m so sorry; not a very empathic way to notify you.

Anyone hear from Otterbein MT on Acceptances or Waitlists?
