That’s the funny thing with this letter…it says they could not offer her “admission to Theatre Arts”. It does not mention a specific degree (BA/BFA) or program. She only applied for BFA MT. So I’m figuring it was a rejection to include the whole department. I’m guessing… she’s a very strong dancer and there was no dance call so we figured it might be a no anyway… @DramaQueen219 did your letter say the same?
@DramaQueen219 I’m sorry about Ithaca. I know that you’ll find your school very soon. Hoping Wagner was really positive
@anotherBwaymom they said early March (which is technically next week!).
Do you know why they transferred. What is the program like?
@MThopeful2022 I have to dig through the recycling bag to look (she threw it out!).
My daughter received a pair of socks in the mail from Montclair yesterday. It was by far the most “unfriendly” audition she had all year and she received a rejection shortly thereafter. The socks came with a note that said “with you every step of the way”. Unless she wants to major in MT, LOL!
@isaboo I have no words for that one!!!
@DramaQueen219 thanks so much! I got a phone call right when they started talking about that and had to leave the room!
@Isaboo I cannot believe the socks!! Just put a little salt in that wound why don’t you. Sorry for that. Hopefully they are good socks at least
One of the people I am talking about Is also whom @artskids is talking about (I think, wouldn’t want to speak for her). She came home to an instate public and graduated early with a degree in psych. The other also transferred (ironically to same instate U) then left school and became a yoga teacher out west. Seems very happy in social media
But @actingdreams - vis a vis the BFA transfer thing… I have personally known 3 kids who have done it (started at a BA program and then transferred to BFA, sometimes at same school, sometimes not) and all ended up successful. Tiny sample I know - but tbh- doesn’t seem to me any more or less difficult than getting into BFA in general.
@DramaQueen219 I am so sorry to hear about Ithaca. And @lsaboo. Those socks! I can’t believe how poorly these artistic departments coordinate with admissions. Do something funny with the socks! And look ahead.
Re: lack of coordination. Last year we were out of town when expected results were supposed to be announced and received, via email, Welcome to SchoolName and please join us at Accepted Students weekend at the same time the artistic rejection was waiting in our mailbox at home.
@Isaboo I got socks too but no MT rejection yet.
My D auditioned at Wagner today too - she’s not sure when decisions will be sent. Audition season is done!
ugh, that’s just awful. I’m so sorry.
Got the Montclair socks! No word yet on a MT decision
Most expensive pair of socks you ever bought
Not sure I understand the socks!
@artskids see post #1745
Hey, at least you all got socks LOL. My D’s year she just got a rushed audition, blank faces, and eons of waiting before a no.
