Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@techmom99 as my D explained it immediately following the MSU dance call, the dancers were handed a form to put their name on. At the top, the auditor would circle “over-weight, underweight, good” It had other like something about the “pelvis”. the thing that bothered my D in particular was that it might not be the best way to set a candidate up for success at the start of a dance call for those who are body sensitive (which would be most IMHO!) I’m not a dancer and someone with a dance orientation and understanding might be able to chime in!

@laylamom I would not characterize my D’s UNCSA rejection as kind. It was from admissions, did not say try again, and was very businesslike and generic. If she’s curious if it’s a particular encouragement, I’d suggest she reach out. My D’s also said, btw, “we don’t give feedback”

Oh…and Pace!
We liked it a lot and are still waiting for them but grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr those calls from admissions over and over that have nothing to do with BFA acceptance have gotten on my last nerve. My Mom has been with me and is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and every time they call she thinks it’s the first time and that it must be an offer. “Pace called!”!
It makes me nuts but also daughter and I laugh- humor with the sad. It’s necessary!!!

Just received the UNCSA rejection letter. I asked S. could I open. It urges S to not let this be a discouragement but a positive step into his future pursuits :)… I went on Naviance to record the outcome and saw that he had put UNCSA as a low interest (probably because of location)
I guess I wanted it more for him than he did. He really wants NYC (or close to it…Rutgers) so we have 1 Yes and 5 More decisions to go on the east coast … Meanwhile, we’re gearing up for 2 more rounds of east coast auditions and then we’re done :slight_smile: one thing that i like about the next 2 weeks is that it will take some time off from this stressful wait game. If nothing else comes from the auditions the break in the wait was worth it /:slight_smile:

@laylamom I didn’t get those Pace Calls that you all were speaking of until I witnessed it over the weekend. They called 7 times. Not the Drama department. The main admission team (good grief)

@DramaQueen219 Thanks! I’ve always felt a disorganized connection to Frankie. This whole process is putting me more and more that way each day I’m afraid!
@layalmom My daughter auditioned a few weeks ago. We (especially I…which is what really matters, right?) also love Elon! It was by far our best audition experience. I would love for my daughter to be there in the fall. I’m starting to get a little anxious waiting to hear. I’m really hoping and praying my girl gets good news this week. This whole thing is getting to me quickly!

@laylamom @actingdreams - Yep, that’s Pace…the calls and emails will go on for months, I’m sorry to say. It stopped only when D told them that she had committed to Molloy/CAP21. Apparently, that’s what they wanted to know (who the competition is, even though Pace rejected her artistically). Same with Wagner, although they weren’t as annoyingly aggressive.

@FrankieHeckish I am crossing my finger’s and hoping for you! What a wonderful vibe at that school. I was not expecting to love it so much. We scheduled it as a first audition to get passed the wobbly knee’s and filmed the pre-screen quickly at home. We were not prepared for such a utopia! It’s very cool. My girl also has an urban streak so I too wonder if it’s more me that loved it. I worry that I’ve been pushing subliminally (also to stave off rejection disappointments). Oooooooooooh such a head game!

@LBSMOM I will take you up on that (if there is a need, meaning, if she gets a yes). I’m done getting my hopes up :frowning:

We got our socks today (assuming that’s what the package is… it feels soft). AND, she didn’t even audition yet!

@EastchesterMom I am an alum of Molloy. They didn’t do all that back in 19xx (lol). I want my lion!!!

@Noreplays2018, when my d auditioned for MT, Michelle (who was checking people in, and has answered many of my calls/emails) said the acting program is completely separate, and their auditions were over at least two weeks before MT (we were there on 2/9 and they were already over). MT still had one more week of auditions (the 16th). So I am thinking it is very likely that acting decisions may come out first.

@laylamom I met a mom at an audition, and I mentioned schools (to two other moms) who constantly called. She chimed in and said ‘can I guess: Pace?’. She said her kid didn’t even pass the pre-screen! Incidentally, I just threw out the pace travel coffee mug we got (almost two years ago) at their open house (the printing faded, and I certainly don’t need another travel coffee cup!!).

I just threw out our Pace travel mug this morning!

My S was accepted into the Ithaca MT today via snail mail.

@myboy2000 Congrats!!! Wonderful news

@mandidnam Thank you so much! We had been told it would come through the portal so did not expect it in the mail!

What a great surprise!! @myboy2000 My D was accepted to Ithaca today also.

@fingers_crossed -

I am surprised that they allow the kids to see what they have written. I can understand writing notes about the students to remember them later and/or to share with those involved in selection who aren’t there, but it does seem cruel to allow the kids to see it.

@myboy2000 Congratulations on Ithaca! That is great news! Please do you mind if I ask if there is a change to your son’s portal?
