Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

I too auditioned early action and am pending. There is a forum on the JMU musical theatre CC page that talks about when people will be hearing back. On there I was told early action would hear back in early March, and regular decision would hear back in April. Good luck to all who auditioned!

@4llth4tj4zz Correction: EA BY Early March and RD Mid to late March for JMU.

@4llth4tj4zz good to know! I figured it would all be at the same time.

@Mr.Eggroll Wow, that story does make me feel better. Thank you for sharing it. I do believe in the “things happen for a reason” view, if only because I know that my kid being “in love” with something/someplace/someone – no matter how deserving she is and no matter whether she could or could not have done it differently – is not enough for a good relationship and that “love” is a bit like this “speed dating” at Unifieds – just so much about “spark” and that happens, I think, when there is chemistry on both sides. I think our kids may fall in love early in life for the wrong reasons, not because there is true spark or that something “deeper” that will sustain and nurture and fulfill them.

I know that “businessinsider” thinks we are just a bunch of “worriers, trolls” and “know it alls” but the person who wrote that (I bet) never had a kid try to go through this process even once.

@notforthefaintofheart :slight_smile: TY.

@actingdreams Yes, his parents really went to bat for him and fortunately it all worked out, but because of the University delay he didn’t get a merit award for fine arts that he could have gotten. Fortunately, his Mom and Dad were all over the scholarship front (because they have to be) and he was able to get community scholarships “added” on to the aid package (but only by savvy networking with the benefactors of the scholarships because Michigan doesn’t allow you to “layer” scholarships. [he talked the benefactors into writing checks to pay for a laptop and other things he needed for school so that UM didn’t take the aid away]. If you get money there, they take it away if you find outside scholarships to replace it. Definitely a thing to check at various schools. Some let you layer and some don’t.

@mommafaria Nope, sorry. BFA-acting today. Probably soon though.

Montclair says all Unifieds decisions have been made the question is when will we hear back??

So i have to ask… do you think all the ShenCo calls went out today? And if so - do they do a wait list or if you did not get a call is that a definite “no”. Ugh- trying to brace myself for this one. It may be a toughie.

Hey all, my D got rejected from the University of Michigan via email, but then an hour later received an email from their Head of Performance asking for her number to call her some time next week (he said he wanted to wait till next week to have his notes with him.) Can anyone shed some light on what’s going on and why he would ask to call her?

savedrama4momma: I am wondering the same

@JohnsonFam - I think everyone who just got rejected from Michigan just went back to see if they got this second email! My S did not! That’s very intriguing. If they were really self-less, they might want to give her feedback if it was something that was highly fixable. But I’ve never heard of any school doing that before. Could they be interested in having her do the BA in theater? Was there something on the resume that might indicate an interest in tech? No idea what it could be, but I hope you update us when you find out.

RE: JMU decisions…

For those admitted academically EA, admissions portals will be updated by early to mid March. JMU goes on break next week, so it may extend into the week of March 12.

For those in the RD pool the program admissions decisions will be available via the portal at the same time as the academic admissions decisions… mid to late March, by April 1.

Transfer students are notified slightly later, generally by April 15, if not earlier.

@dontaskme1, my daughter got an email from Montclair admissions yesterday saying all decisions from Unified auditions were now sent to them and all portals would be updated by the end of the week. She had been in touch with Montclair because her major in her portal says “musical theatre” and the attached letter to her portal says that her major should shay “undeclared”. Doesn’t sound promising, but I guess we will know within a few days.

@dontaskme1 @K&Tmom My D’s portal at Montclair was just updated and the decision letter was updated as well. She did not get in, but hopefully you have better news.

@k&tmom I did not get that email.

@JohnsonFam sounds like an unofficial Waitlist call

Rejected from montclair via portal but no email was sent.

We got a yes from Long Island University and no’s from Northern Ohio University and Ball State. This process is so nerve-wracking.

Congrats on the acceptance to LIU @belleforbroadway! The no’s are just a given but at least you got a nice acceptance the same day!
