Can anyone please share out of state acceptance rate if you know of? Thank you.
@BelmontVA
I have posted about this in the past. Here it is:
UF’s overall admission rate is 37%. OOS is higher at 45% but the yield is much lower. While about 60% of in state kids enroll, only 22% of OOS kids enroll. UF accepts a high percentage of OOS kids but probably due to cost, 78% of kids choose otherwise. Google UF admisssins annual report. Page 11 tells the tale in the 2018 report.
5555 freshman from Florida. 935 OOS.
I have heard that UF doesn’t accept many OOS kids. That’s a myth.
You also hear on this forum that OOS kids are taking slots from in state kids. At 13% of the freshman class, i think that’s also a myth.
You can find the admissions report here. https://admissions.ufl.edu/publications
You have to do some of the arithmetic yourself. Page 10.
In state admission rate is 36%.
OOS is 45%.
I have found it is better to get data from the school and the state, rather than what is on the websites that aggregate information from unknown sources at unknown dates.
@GatorDad305 Very helpful info. Thank you very much!
@GatorDad305 What stands out to me in the admissions report is the male/female data. There were 37% more female applicants than male and female acceptance % was higher by 4.5%. Yield was roughly the same for males/females. The number of females that enrolled was 50% higher than the number of males. That is really remarkable.
@fl1234 It is a national trend. Article from a couple years ago titled: Why Men Are the New College Minority.
“Where men once went to college in proportions far higher than women—58 percent to 42 percent as recently as the 1970s—the ratio has now almost exactly reversed.”

Some schools still have pretty much even enrollment: Harvard and Univ. of Michigan by a quick check. UVA is 55F to 45M. Univ. of Texas is 56F to 44M. FSU is 56F to 44M. Total UF enrollment is about 57F - 43M.
When I was at UF back in the late 80s, the popular sentiment was that there were more boys than girls because UF had once been all male while FSU had been all female. More guys trended toward UF and more girls trended toward FSU. Any of those lingering factors are long gone.
@mn030301 we are just reviewing all of the previous posts. Did you get accepted summer b? Pace? Or Fall? I have similar stats.
@wingzone My D got into every college she applied but UF due to her SSAR reporting diluting her GPA. UF was the one who advised us what happened. UCF wasnt an issue because they received my daughter DE College transcripts. After we contacted FSU we were so grateful that FSU took the time to really research what went wrong. It was a shocker and made her realize to go to a college where they really care and want you. FSU (despite it not being on her radar at the time) has been a wonderful experience and education for her and yes, she is very, very smart and is able to enjoy a true college life while balancing her academics. So . . . I have a Nole, a Gator, and an Owl and all couldn’t be happier!!
Hey guys! Just to alleviate my own stress, does anyone know if the portal changes when you open it if you got accepted vs. denied? For example UofSC had in big letters “YES!” when you logged in, and a link to open the letter (like FSU). Or does it just link to the letter causing more anxiety…
