Class of 2023 Decisions

Son was accepted into Tulane and South Florida. Both with some scholarships. 4.6 weighted GPA, AP and DE courses, good essay writer, 40 out of 560 at a competitive high school, and 29 ACT. Looks like he falls in the middle of the pack for Florida admissions.

@12345hii That’s a great question. According to the admissions annual report, 1852 applied and 599 were accepted to IA last year. by my journalism school math, that’s 32.3%. So it is comparable if not slightly tougher than Fall/Summer. However, many kids don’t like the “Spring/Summer but no Fall” classes aspect of it. The word on the street is that it is less competitive from a GPA and test score perspective, but I only have anecdotal evidence to support this.

We don’t get a lot of data from applicants on this forum, and UF doesn’t publicize the GPAs/Score metrics.

Out of State female
30 ACT
3.68 W
3.64 UW
Good Essays, Good EC’s

Liberal Arts and Sciences - Computer Science Major

Chances?

@collegesss20 GPA is far outside the UF lane. Did she take AP courses? Unless AP classes were not offered, most kids admitted to UF are above a 4.0 recalculated GPA. This middle 50% are between 4.2 - 4.6 with the average being a 4.4. Her ACT score is in the middle, which is good, but UF weighs GPA and rigor more than standardized test scores. If she took AP Classes and her weighted GPA is 3.68 then I think her odds are long and I hope she has some safeties lined up. UF holistic admission being what it is, one can never say never, though.

Out of State girl
SAT: 1200

I have done jobs and such and been a cheerleader all 3 years of school. Any chances?

Good luck to applicants and their families tomorrow. We went through it last year with our son, and will do it next year with our daughter. Hanging around this year to see how the stats shake out. I know it is nerve racking…
Sleep well tonight and try and relax. Ultimately, each student will wind up exactly where they are supposed to be!

Nicvic, both your scores and GPA are below UF’s averages. Unless you have a superstar EC or essay, I think the chances are low. (but not impossible) 12345hil, I think you have a shot. Could go either way. Good luck!

@GatorCheer Hoping the best for you. D also has been accepted to UCF and USF, as well as JMU (we’re from Virginia). She’s still waiting to hear from UVA, but U of F is far and away her first choice, so we’re hoping for good news this time tomorrow.

Actually, she has a dance recital tomorrow evening, and told us she doesn’t want to know until after the recital ends well into the evening. So we’ll be finding out about 11:00 p.m., five hours after all the initial excitement.

Wow, that will be a huge exercise in patience and self-restraint for you. I’m leaving for a business trip very early Saturday morning, so I may be asleep when D finds out. Have a feeling, though, that I’ll be woken up with a scream (either of elation or despair) late Friday night!

Could somebody please chance me?
I am out of state from Wisconsin at a public school. I am ranked 22/568 in my class, 3.978 unweighted and not sure what my weighted or recalculated GPA is but I will have taken 6 AP’s by the end of high school. 31 ACT, good essays, extracurriculars are teachers assistant, volunteering in urgent care clinic and nursing home as well as working in nursing home and few other clubs. I plan on majoring in biology and going pre-med which I have heard is very good at UF. I was accepted to UW Madison and USF St. Pete and waitlisted at UNC Chapel Hill, and am waiting for UMich. Any chances would be appreciated because I completed my application a little last minute and am on the edge about my chances. Thanks in advance!

Out of State Male

3.7 Weighted GPA
29 ACT
Volunteer Fireman/EMS, Full time summer job, Working with organization that trains dogs for people with disabilities since i was a kid.

I applied for Animal Science as a major, I’m not expecting to get in but I’m curious as to what you guys think. A lot of my time is spent at the FD, so that’s really my only EC. Also, does UF take injuries like concussions into consideration when considering applicants?

Thanks everyone and good luck!!

Praying for all along with my son. He said getting to UF is no sure thing. We are hoping for good news but last Friday he was rejected from UT Austin. He got accepted to FSU.

35.25 ACT
Class Rank of 7 out of 580
4.7 Weighted GPA
Will finish with 10 AP Classes has scored 5 on all the AP exams
Solid Extra Curriculars including Captain of sports team and Drum Major.

We all hope for the best for all.

Oh boy, I’m so nervous for today.
My daughter is in state:
33 ACT
4.0 GPA
5.3 HPA
Class Rank 2 of 780
Has a sister who is a current gator (I think that helps but I’m not sure)
Doesn’t have a ton of EC but she was super involved in HOSA (student health occupation club) which she genuinely loved and served as president the last two years. She loves UF and it’s her #1 choice. Fingers crossed!

Good Luck to everyone today. I’m sure this page will be blowing up all day as we anxiously await 6:00.

Just an FYI, last year acceptances were posted a little early, around 5:30 pm. So it doesn’t hurt to start refreshing early! Best of luck to all of you today!

Nervous parents here anxiously awaiting the decision. Here’s our son’s profile:

  • 15 AP Classes
  • 6 Dual Enrollment
  • Every other class was at the honors level with the exception of HOPE
  • 3.97 Unweighted GPA
  • We haven't factored the UF calculated GPA, but would expect somewhere between 4.4 to a 4.6...maybe higher? -1430 SAT
  • School's STEM Team Captain
  • Latin Honor Society VP
  • 120+ hours of community service
  • Solid essay (in our estimation)
  • Top 2% in a class of 689

Any thoughts?

The nerves are REAL!!!lol
