In terms of how to calculate the uf gpa I think if you look at SSAR and don’t include any of the classes in the other category you will be very close. I did hear conflicting information on whether they actually count middle school classes that counted as a high school credit. My son took Spanish 1 in 8th grade and it was only a 4.0 class. That 1 class might cost him an auto admit to the honors program. My guess is they have a tool that spits out the number from the SSAR so whatever is in Other is not counted while everything else is. I doubt they check too carefully if every class was put in the correct place.
If you call UF they will tell exactly what the “recalculated” GPA is.
Just called UF and my gpa went from what I thought was a 4.6 to a 4.4
Yeah, it seem like their gpa is usually lower. my daughter lost .2 as well with their recalculated.
We just called and the guy on the phone said “we don’t discuss that information with anyone, not even the student”
Try calling again. That is not the policy of UF admissions. If they say that it is then ask for a supervisor.

Any idea of my son’s chances?
Does anyone know how competitive UF Honors is? Son has 1570 SAT, 16 AP’s and lots of leadership/EC’s.
@Gator88NE I appreciate the follow up and clarification. Thanks!
@minniemouse143 Supposedly the honors will be chosen by essays and not strictly by ACT/SAT and gpa. Now they may end up having a baseline for scores and then choose by essays but no way of knowing for sure.
@moscott thank you! Son probably won’t get it since he made a giant typo in his essay. oops!
@minniemouse143 I have no insight to the matter but I would think the essay would be judged much more on content than a typo or 2.
@FLGDAD Based on what you have shared and assuming his recalculated UF GPA is 4.3, i think your son has an excellent chance. Great ACT score. Good luck and let us know what happens.
@JamesFL It may depends on who you get, when I called about two weeks ago I told them I am mom and wanted to know my D’s gpa and they looked it up and gave it to me without any hesitation. I did the same with FSU that same day and they also disclosed it without hesitation.
@chgoodie, Thanks, I called and the nice girl said my son had to be on the phone to get it and he was not home, so I will try a third time when he gets back. She did tell me that his spanish1 class from middle school did count so that is a bummer as it was just a regular class.
Not sure why knowing the recalculated UF gpa is so important. It is what it is. And, it will be reviewed in conjunction with the rest of the application. Don’t stress too much. Good luck everyone!
A typo won’t matter, unless the essay is riddled with them. FLGDAD, I think chances are decent!
what time during friday are we thinking the decisions will be out? last years was 5:30ish right? I believe the email said around 6
Is there an average GPA and SAT for innovation Academy
@12345hii Not that we know of, but I do know the acceptance rate for Innovation Academy students is higher.
