Class of 2023 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

My D received the FSU letter in the mail today. We live in AZ.

Has anyone received or heard of anyone who’s received an alternate list for FSU?

@frisbee3 yes, my D has a friend who received the FSU alternate letter

@Kkrazie My kiddo is on break this week so I thought we’d talk about the acceptances she has and if she’s interested in a redirect at any she hasn’t heard from. Do you know if Missouri has a program they redirect to? Any thoughts on that? She was offered in state tuition for her grades so it’s something to consider.

If anyone else wants to weigh in on schools that might smart to do the BA on our list, please do.
We’re specifically curious about:
Ball State
Point Park
U of AZ
OU
Texas Tech
Missouri State

@MTMama23 the in-state tuition is a big perk & something to truly evaluate. At Missouri State they have several BA students that re-audition for BFA programs in early fall semester. Some got into BFA program is my understanding. But they have to reaudition. I’d call school for best understanding of options. I’d also ask BAs availability to casting opportunities. The tuition & dorms costs are so affordable compared to other schools. Lots of cool majors in the arts in general at Missouri State above and beyond BFA MT/Acting & Dance. My younger child is looking at stage management/tech theater/design tracks & will apply to Missouri State when time. I’m not certain how Missouri State redirects. But it’s helpful not to be indebt with college tuition in so many fiscal ways. The big positive of a BA vs. a BFA is the ability to double-major which is a smart option. This was something we weighted with TCU, SMU, OU & OKCU our year. But Missouri State was best fiscally & it tipped the scale towards Missouri State. Sending positive vibes your way. So hard to evaluate all the options.

Ball State’s entire department is solid. Great faculty, great students. The Theatre Creation BA is less performance centric and because there are both acting BFA’s and musical theatre BFA’s, the BA’s don’t always get cast. Having said that, my daughter’s roommate who is a BA has been cast at least twice in Cave shows - the smaller black box theatre. My daughter is a senior MTO (musical theatre option) and can point your daughter in the right direction if she wants to talk to a BA student. Also, there is an opportunity to re-audition for the MTO in the spring - they take a small handful each year depending on the needs of the class. I think 3 or 4 were accepted by reauditioning in my daughters year out of about 30 kids who re-auditioned. Can’t say enough good things about the Department of Theatre and Dance. PM me if you would like additional information.

@minicp - was the alternate letter recently or right after the calls?

@frisbee3 it was sent a few days after the calls. My D received her No letter on Thursday.

@minicp - sorry to hear about the no ?

My D has not received a call or a letter from FSU and it’s driving her crazy. We live just a few hours from Tallahassee and didn’t think it should take this long to arrive. She is assuming it’s a no but would still like to know for sure.

Same @azmtmom13.

@roadiemom2019 - it does seem odd that the nos wouldn’t have gone out pretty quickly because they said they rarely go to the WL. We’re still waiting as well and assuming it’s a no as well.

@frisbee3 @azmtmom13 Posted by Michelle on her page…Please give it until Tuesday. If you don’t receive it, please send me an email from the email account on the application and I will reply with a copy.

Michele

@frisbee3 thank you. she was upset the day the calls went out but our rule is you have 24 hours to cry then you move on. Thankfully she did get ā€œthe callā€ from ShenCo so that definitely made things better.

@minicp - That incredible about Shenandoah! That was the no that hurt the most here for my DD. Wasn’t meant to be…

@frisbee3 I’m so sorry about that no…I hate that any of our kids have to go through that. I am sure that your D will end up where she’s meant to be!!!

Has anyone heard from Hartt recently? My D auditioned Feb 15 but hasn’t heard anything yet.

@mtmom1967, Hartt is notorious for taking forever to notify. Last year my D auditioned on Feb. 16 and got her acceptance on March 29.

Anyone heard form University of OK yet? I’m sure it’s a no at this point, just wondering if anyone else has heard…

My son’s girlfriend got accepted at Hartt for Acting. Email, beginning of last week. My son auditioned for Hartt MT, nothing yet.
