That seems odd. Are you sure his file was complete? Maybe they didn’t have everything they needed to make a decision.
Those requirements are the minimum requirements to earn a high school diploma in the State of SC. The SC Commission on Higher Ed oversees some of that as well. It would make sense that the minimum requirements to graduate high school in SC would be listed as the minimum requirements for acceptance at an SC state university.
My daughter text us that she got the email while on a date tonight. Then she called us and read us the letter. Accepted!!!
OOS
Biological Sciences
ACT 30
GPA 4.2 unweighted
varsity athlete & recruited athlete at USC
scholarship of $10K per year
Accepted today. How do you see scholarships ?
Yes, SCUGS is based on a 5.0 for CP 5.5 for Honors & 6.0 for AP/IB/Dual Credit weighting.

I am so positive all the kids of people on this thread will get in, I will ask the NEXT question:
Does anybody know how the dorm selection process works at USC?
UofSC is a strong proponent of Living Learning Communities. Honors College students get priority housing I believe. Capstone Scholars get priority housing in the Capstone community. School of Music students get priority housing in Woodrow, the Music Community. There are several other communities. There is a deadline to submit the housing application and deposit. UofSC has a shortage of on campus housing and some previous upper class men dorms/options are now given to freshmen. Be prepared for some sticker shock.
Admitted! OOS business undeclared. 34 ACT, 3.7 UW GPA. OOS tuition waiver worth 85k+. Total award in March. Good luck to all!

For those OOS, did your acceptance letters include any mention of merit/in state tuition?
Yes. Mention of in state waiver of 85k+ and more to come.

No email but my daughter checked the portal and saw her change in status that she has been accepted!! She has to audition for a School of Music to complete her acceptance but that isn’t until Feb. She was offered guaranteed scholarship and tuition assistance.
Weighted GPA 4.43
SAT 1350
OOS
School of Music- Music Education
Good luck to your daughter in February. What is your daughter’s instrument? I’d highly recommend considering living in the Music Living and Learning Community. The dorm is Woodrow, apartment style, part of Historic Horseshoe, and balconies overlook Greene Street & Russell House.
The wait between academic acceptance and then School of Music Auditions/acceptances was worse for my daughter than the wait for academic acceptances. My daughter is a freshman BM Vocal Performance Major. She absolutely loves being a Gamecock!
I’m starting to get a little upset at all the scholarship talk. I have two older kids that went to USC and both received scholarships and reduced tuition, but neither of them were notified about the aid until March. Now, I hear others saying their kids already got aid. Did they change the process? My son got accepted, but no mention of aid. His stats are on par with his siblings and with some of the others who got aid already. Why didn’t he get anything?
Mechanical engineering
OOS
SAT 1360
GPA 3.77
DD OOS ACCEPTED!
SAT 1490; GPA 4.36 W 4.0 U
BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
? DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT HONORS COLLEGE…DOES THIS MEAN SHE DID NOT GET IN? OR, IS THIS SOMETHING THAT IS DECIDED LATER?
TX. THIS IS HER 1ST ACCEPTANCE…SO EXCITED!!
Thank you for the helpful information. My daughter plays the clarinet. We saw Woodrow from the outside when we were on our tour and it does look like it’s a great location. How long does it take after the audition to hear back with a decision?
@3rdgengamecock I completely understand being confused and upset if you believe the process has changed. I would give them a call. There could possibly be a different score requirement metric after they recalculate the GPA for OSS students, but I don’t know. I’m sure you already have this, but for the benefit of future readers here is the link. I think the wild card when reading is to remember they recalculate the GPA with only the courses they require if I’m not mistaken. Good luck and I hope you are able to get this resolved.
Also, have you put your information into the Net Cost Calculator? It appears to reflect updated rate information which when tied to your college board data may give more information about where UOfSC scholarships fall for your personal finance and scores.

For those OOS, did your acceptance letters include any mention of merit/in state tuition?
yes, in-state tuition offer and scholarship info (a minimum) was detailed in the second paragraph of the letter.
Good luck everyone!
