For those waiting on emails from Michigan after applying EA - Be sure to check your email spam folder. There were many instances last year of the email responses ending up being marked as spam.
That is correct, But I should emphasize, not every deferred EA applicant will âmeetâ the disappearing decision tab.
EA application deadline today. Good luck everyone!
@sushiritto I have a question. I know act is 32-35 for mid 50percent and I know UMich doesnât superstore. . . but since they let you send in multiple test scores I wonder if these 32-35 numbers are the superstores? My daughter literally got a 31.25 on her act and with a superstore is a 32. Just curious if for their numbers they use superstores for those ranges. Wishful thinking on my part perhaps
UM does not superscore BUT notice the difference in the percentiles of UMâs SAT scores compared to ACT. SAT scores are 1350-1500. SAT 1350 compares to a 29 ACT or a 92nd percentile score. Most students (especially in-state) are no longer taking the ACT and therefore the lower scores are showing in the SAT range. It is my opinion that most of the ACT scores that UM is receiving are skewing higher because more high test scoring students are trying for perfect scores on the ACT and raising the ACT scores. My guess is that students with at least a 30 on the ACT are accepted within the 25-75% of test scores, but there are many perfect 36s that are skewing the averages.
A couple things here are incorrect.
- The SAT range per the UMich website is 1,380-1,540.
https://admissions.umich.edu/apply/freshmen-applicants/student-profile
- Per the few years of CDSâs, for enrolled students, students submitting ACT scores went from 82-83% down to 54%. Enrolled students submitting SAT scores went from 26% to 63%. So more enrolled students are submitting SAT scores.
Yes, students have been accepted with ACT scores as low as 28, IIRC, but theyâve been instate applicants at the lower end of accepted students. And they (not 100%) were also EA deferred into RD.
@Mimigirl while I havenât audited their admission statistics, Iâm near certain their ACT and SAT scores are not superscored. A composite of 31.25 is a very good ACT score. ECâs, demonstrated interest and essays matter at UMich too.
My daughter applied, and it took approximately a week to hear back.
The ACT theory is a reachâŠi do think the folks in Ann Arbor have 60k apps to go through thoughâŠ
Hello everyone, I was just wondering, how long did it take for you to get your applicant portal information? I submitted everyone on the 30th and havent received anything yet
About a week.
Daughter received portal info last week. She meets or exceeds all UM criteria; 33 ACT, 3.97 un-weighted GPA, several AP classes, attends a top-rated public high school in Chicago area, and lastly, UM is her top choice. Took official tour. There are many who have the same stats so itâs a crap shoot. Now we wait.
What High school? My DD goes to jones and also applying to UM.
My son got his portal info yesterday. 11/05
rola23, what date did your son submit?
Okay, they just sent me and my friend our portals and weâre both freaking out because now we just feel like weâre just playing a waiting game
Yep, about 6 weeks.
Remember, if youâre deferred, then âkeep the pedal to metalâ with your senior year grades. If deferred into RD, then UMich will want to see those.
My son submitted on October 29th and just got his UoM portal today
My son submitted application Oct. 30 and received portal Nov 5
Got portal today - submitted 10/30
I just got my portal, everything looks good! ( was a little worried because my naviance was glitching and my counselor mixed up some transcript stuff)
Ive seen comments about letter of intent. What is that exactly and where do you send it? my daughter has connected with the local rep but is very baseline on stats- 3.8UW and 31 act. She is a third generation legacy and her grandfather is a professor there but that didnât help other family members in the past. Would a letter of intent be helpful? Thanks- this is my first rodeo.
