Class of 2024 Early Action Thread

Ok- try following this. My mom’s friend’s daughter has a friend from Michigan who says he found out today that he was accepted. Apparently he’s in LSA. so maybe in-state finds out sooner? Again this is 1000 degrees of separation but there it is…

I"m losing my mind so I’m going to work out so I can’t check my portal.

@shushiritto what were the Stats for the students rejected EA at your kids HS?

I know there’s no point in stressing over this now bc it’s out of our hands… but I’m worried my stats are low. 1460 sat and 3.8 unweighted, 4.1 weighted gpa w 6 APs. I think a lot of applicants from my school have higher and I’m b u g g i n g

Does anyone know what stats tend to be for first round EA admits?

@anonymous3400 I have a 3.8 and act 31. I’m FREAKING out. Prepping for deferral.

Sorry, I know. But I just wanted to give everyone here info. I don’t think they’ll release any EA decisions at Midnight. I still believe they’ll send them out around 3:00 PM EST one of these days. :facepalm

I was talking to my guidance counselor today and she said that in her time at my school (over 10 years) she has never once had a student accepted into UMich! Based on this and my lower scores my chances are slim to none but I’m really looking forward to just having a concrete decision, whatever it is. This waiting is making me overthink it all wayyyy more than necessary!

I am in-state. I will tell you.

For all the out of state people freaking out about decision times/dates: just know that my school has the highest acceptance rate to Umich in Michigan and nobody has heard back/gotten the email yet. Calm down, take deep breaths. It will either come out tonight or tomorrow afternoon I believe. Also, a deferral to Umich does not mean rejection. They defer a huge amount of applicants; it most likely just means that they have not gotten to you yet. Nobody with bad credentials get rejected from Umich for Early Action.

They like well-rounded people so do not worry about your stats. I know people with stats on the very low side who have gotten in because they are well-rounded students.

I mean, it’s possible that in-state find out sooner, but I’m an in-state and I haven’t heard anything and neither has anyone I know.

Just on stats, I think you stand a very good chance.

@CookieMonster18 - There is always a first time - it might be you.

If people aren’t getting a decision, can someone explain this? https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/early-action-um-acceptance-decisions-begin-today

Can someone share the tweet posted last year before the decisions were released?

Quote from that link that was just sent: “Emails should start going out today”
That blogger posted their article this morning, so they couldn’t have known at the time if decisions ever went out

Daughter is in state RC hasn’t heard yet.

Please see my posts from earlier today.

When I called, the AO said “we are working on it” Maybe they were planning on releasing today but with the new system - there is some delay.

I am just speculating. She could have just said, “it will be out between now and Dec 24.” But she said both things - sounds like they are working on something.

When decisions are released, this thread will figurately “blowup” with new posts. Trust me on that one.

Who thinks decisions are coming tomorrow and that I should stop refreshing this page.

They “get” to everyone. Again, that is rumor that has been floated every year. UMich only accepts about 50% of their acceptances in EA. So, what do you do with the rest of the great students? You defer them to RD.

Between the computer algorithms and an entire department of AO’s, along with the 8th (or thereabouts) largest college endowment in the US, they can review 40,000 +/- apps between October-December.

There are many Uni’s like ND, NU and UofC that can review thousands of applications between EA/ED/REA/SCEA submittal to their mid-to-late December release deadline.
