Class of 2024 - University of Connecticut

Accepted to arts and sciences and honors program with the academic excellence award
ACT 34
W GPA 4.15
In state

My kid was accepted to Storrs ACES, Out-of-State, Academic Excellence Scholarship of $23,500 per year.  1400 SAT, 33 ACT. Very pleased but a lot to decide now.

A few years ago, UCONN used to list requirements for the academic scholarship. They had a cutoff of a certain GPA and SAT/ACT. I thought SAT at that time was 1350. My son had 1500 SAT and 3.7 GPA and received -0- instate. this year my other son had 1380 with close to 4.0 and received $5k.

There is no harm in asking what the requirement is.

Out of state scholarships are larger since they don’t pay our tuition.

When did you submit the application and paperwork? Was It all in by the deadline for scholarship consideration- I think date was December 1.

My son accepted Honors oos 1470 sat 32 act 4.05 UW GPA 2 AP Biomedical Engineering $7,500 academic excellence halved because considered in state due to tuition break on major.

@nursing15

Yes, son applied October. Kind of discouraging but I don’t know if UConn even considers appeals or if it’s worth it. I saw the same thing on UMASS thread where in state students didn’t get any merit

It’s in his decision.

Has anyone received news on UConn’s pre-dental program or any of the special programs?

DD accepted In-state with an academic merit award. However, doesn’t appear she was accepted into Honors which is puzzling. 32 ACT, 4.86 WGPA, will either be val/sal if nothing falls apart by end of year (LOL), lots of leadership and extracurriculars. She was accepted into the honors program at the other state schools she applied to, so we can’t figure it out. If not for the tuition, she would commit to Villanova, so we were really hoping for honors at UCONN. Now really not sure what to do. Is it worth contacting admissions to find out what’s up?

Admitted to School of Engineering OOS
$20/k per year scholarship
SAT 1380
GPA 3.5

Does anyone know when they come in the mail? Because I want to know how long I was branched for. Also does anyone know if I can appeal to ask to be branched for half a semester?

I applied in October, but still haven’t gotten my decision yet. I open my portal and nothing shows up. Did everyone else received theirs?

Yes most have. What do you see when you open the portal? You don’t see a status update? If you scroll down to the bottom do you see the dates that they’ve received your materials-application test scores etc?

@jagteshwar789 Did you check through this link? https://admissions.uconn.edu/check-status

On my portal, I am able to see the checklist with everything checked. There’s no status update on my portal. At the bottom of the page I see the option to withdraw my application/change major @suzyQ7 @debmurray

Same here…except in-state. You are OOS and received this? What is you son thinking?

That stinks. I would call and email those specific details and see what they say.

I would also try another browser just to be sure that it’s not a browser issue. So if you’re using Internet explorer, try chrome.

Does anyone know if there is a waitlist for the Drama program? Anyone got a waitlist notification? Our acceptance seems to be for the general studies program and not the Major. Thank you

@GMgiant
Stamford is the only other UConn location besides Storrs that now offers housing.

@smalltash
I meant to send this comment to you and not @GMgiant since they prob know this…Stamford only branch campus that offers housing so for someone OOS this is really the only branch that would work.
