Class Of 2024

Congrats to all who have been accepted!! That’s great! Did you all receive your scholarship notification with your admission notification? My D is still waiting for her admission decision. Has anyone received a notification since the holidays? My D’s portal says her notification date is on or before January 15, but the wait has been brutal!

Got my acceptance last night! I applied 10/22. 72k scholarship!
1360 SAT
4.0 UW
Nursing Major

D finally got her acceptance email last night! So excited!

@cinemababe @gat2bm Congratulations!! Can you share when you applied?

@momof3co My D submitted her app on 11/2 thru CommonApp. We’re OOS.

@momof3co Thanks! I applied 10/22.

@gat2bm scholarship notification came with admission in my child’s case.

In case anyone is thinking about re-taking sat/act to raise the scholarship, you should if you think you can get a higher score. My son did and sent in and they bumped the scholarship up. I believe you have all the way to May to do this.

My daughter did not apply until RD. She has now been invited to the Business Distinguished Scholars day. Her stats are higher than the “max” that is listed for the Distinguished Scholar days, but she applied too late for the I2E event, so I think they just added her in to the Scholar day. She’d like to go to the event. Question: By this invitation, can we imply that she will be accepted to Baylor? I’m just hesitant to spend the $ on this trip if it is not for a school she will be accepted to. Any thoughts appreciated.

@momof3co My son was invited to the I2E event in November before he was accepted. He received his acceptance about a week after attending the event and his honors college acceptance a week later.

Thank you @inktopaper ! This event falls on March 30th so right near the final decision date, but it’s possible she won’t receive a decision prior. With the opportunities at I2E, I would take the risk, but this is a smaller opportunity so I just want to figure which trips make the most sense before her decision.

@momof3co I know someone who got invite to I2E before admission offer. The offer came after the invitation but before the actual event. You may get the admission offer before the actual event. Good luck!

Thank you @icedmachiato !!

We’re OOS and have never visited Baylor. We plan on attending the Distinguished Scholars Day on 3/30. How is this different from “Baylor Premier” and “Know Where You’re Going Day”? Does anyone have an opinion as to which event would be the best one to attend?

Just an FYI…My daughter and I were up at Baylor all day yesterday to take all of the tours and meet with an adviser. We learned that Baylor is using a lottery type system on housing. So being the first to submit a housing application on 2/5 will not give you any more preference to a specific dorm than someone who applies in April. So my recommendation is do not pay the $500 deposit until you know for sure if you’re going.

Did everyone who has been accepted receive an email to check the portal and then later get postal mail? Just wondering the timeline and how they update you?

Too funny but my D20 received an email just after I added the above anxious question. She was accepted! Very thrilled, but now I’m concerned because there is no mention of merit. According to the scholarship calculator, she qualifies for the top one at $21K/year. Did anyone else not hear about scholarships with their acceptance if they qualified?

@momof3co My D’s merit notice was in a not-so-obvious place. It’s on her portal page under the submit button for the t-shirt, which is below the deposit button. It’s a paragraph that says “Your admission to Baylor University carries with it an academic scholarship . . . .” We missed it the first time she logged in.

@Driverof3 Thank you so much for replying! We just looked again and her Profile is directly under the Submit button for the T-shirt, so no mention of merit. Maybe you didn’t miss it the first time and it updated after you first checked, and we can expect the same? [Hoping!]

@momof3co That seems strange if she qualified based on the calculator, especially if she’s been invited to a special scholars event. Maybe she can ask her admissions counselor about it tomorrow.

@Driverof3 Thanks for the tip. Sure enough, the admissions counselor said it was a mistake and corrected it right away. $84K in merit was worth that phone call! Really appreciate your responses and advice.
