I think it was October 9th for semi-finalists.
Correct. My company offers a special scholarship and I think that is why that is listed. I thinkđ
Interesting we were not even notified that she was a semi finalist until December.
I would give NMSF a call on Monday/Tuesday and ask. They are very helpful and nice over the phone and you can inquire as a parent, they will just verify your childâs name and school.
Appreciate your help here. We may have discovered the issue and that is my daughter is not a semi finalist but instead a candidate for my company $5000 yearly renewable scholarship. Much appreciate you Sharing the screen shot.
Thanks.
I too have not received the NMF certificate. Canât NMSC just post the PDF of the certificate too. They supposedly sent it to the Principals on Feb 3rd and it has still not been received by the schools.
If your student is a Finalist, you should be able to see the letter (View Finalist Letter.pdf) on their portal. Scroll up 10 or so posts and you can see 2 screenshots - One has the pdf at the bottom, the other does not.
I have that letter PDF copy. I am talking about the NMS Certificate that NMSC sends to the Principals on Feb 3rd. I have not got that Certificate. Has anyone gotten that certificate from the Principals yet?
Ah ok. I didnât realize the distinction b/t letter and certificate. My daughter did receive her certificate from her Principal on the day or next day after the schools supposedly received them.
Not yet; usually, they do a little bit of fanfare and hand them out and take pictures. Theyâll probably do it the next week or so.
OK Thanks.
Yes, I hope so.
My school had an elaborate program for semifinalists and families with breakfast and then announcements during half time at a school football event. So I think this finalist stuff may be significantly toned down at my school.
Thanks,
We received a hard copy of the letter on the portal in the mail today.
My kidâs high school is (effectively) 100% DE at the local university, so itâs not like anyone is there for a big ceremony anyway. There will be some sort of recognition of the kid making NMF at graduation in May, though, I am told.
My understanding is that for those who were awarded the $2500 scholarship, youâd find out today at some point on the NMS portal (March 20)
This site (merit-scholarships dot com) seems to be a good starting point for up to date schools offering National Merit Scholarships.
