Creating a thread for the Class of 2025.

Timeline for the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

  • October, 2023 - Students take the PSAT
  • April, 2024 - High School administrators validate eligibility of students.
  • September, 2024 - Students will be notified if they are Commended or Semi-Finalists
  • February, 2025 - Semi-finalists will be notified if they are Finalists
  • March, 2025 - Merit scholarship winners will be notified

National Merit status is determined by a student’s Selection Index Score. Selection Index is the sum of 2 times your reading and writing (RW) score added to your math score, then the total divided by 10.

Boston University offers a National Merit Scholarship. Every year there are lots of questions about the BU National Merit Scholarship process.

College Confidential will be hosting an AMA with Boston University on Thursday, May 16 at 7 pm ET.

University of Tulsa offers an excellent award for National Merit Finalists…and it’s a guaranteed award if you are one.

Other schools I know of with guaranteed awards…all of the University of Alabama campuses, Florida colleges if you are an instate student.

Even better, Tulsa’s award package is offered to National Merit Semi-Finalists. They don’t need to be a Finalist to receive the scholarship.

Harding University in Arkansas also offers National Merit scholarship. If anyone is looking for a Christian Liberal Arts school.

Thank you! I was sure I had seen a 2025 thread, but I couldn’t find it in a search. I started this thread because I wanted to make sure that NM families knew about the BU AMA.

I guess when @CC_Sorin merged National Merit into general financial aid and then separated it again, he forgot to move the 2025 thread out. I’m going to close this thread and move the other thread into the National Merit section. Thanks Luanne!
