No, it doesn’t seem to be a viable option due to 1 credit hour constraint.
We don’t want to lose the acceptance to USF.
Only way out is reapplying as a transfer student. It is very unfortunate that it is the case.
We will lose the deposit to the abroad program.
That is unfortunate, but it does make sense to not lose the acceptance to USF if that is your top pick. Hopefully, your son would be able to do a Study Abroad program through USF in the future - there seem to be many.
I finally got admitted today after submitting my application back in August. But I got into UF, so definently not going to USF.
Good luck with your final decision. You have a plethora of great choices (30+ perhaps)! I would recommend you visit both UF, FSU and other colleges, if possible. There’s nothing like going to see the campus yourself and talking to the students. Fit, as nebulous as it may be, is important. From what I know, the culture at UF and FSU are poles apart.
Thanks! I have visited both UF and FSU, and I firmly believe UF is the right feel for me. Probably 99% chance I go unless I get a full ride or something elsewhere.
That’s great! My colleague’s son at the Warrington COB at UF has great things to say about it.
So did you have to pay the admission fee and the $35 orientation fee to get to next step in the housing choice? We were also not sure if accepting enrolment at one university while waiting for another is done. With my first kid, did not have this issue.
Yes. Both the admission deposit of $200 and Orientation fee of $35 need to be paid. My understanding, based on other threads on CC, is that this practice of paying the deposit where required for housing is fairly common for colleges where housing is scarce and on a first-come-first serve basis. Even after May 1 (or later this year), a student who gets off the waitlist at another college can choose to attend that college. The admission deposit is obviously not refundable in a majority of cases.
Thanks. We ended up doing the same since this is one of two choices.
S24 has put in the deposit to USF. Go Bulls!
We are planning to attend the admitted students day on March 23rd at Tampa main campus.
