Class of 28 Undergrad/Class of 26 Grad: a thread to capture the journey of applications, pre screens, tours and auditions

Hum. The only place he has check marks is in the northwestern portal and they sent an email saying he is complete so hoping for the best! Thanks for the help!

Has anyone heard about Jacob’s School of Music Prescreens? I’m confused as to whether they do a rolling prescreen or if they announce the results at one time. I heard back about my prescreen, but my friend didn’t.

My S has not heard back yet, only received IU acceptance. I am assuming it would be released as each studio decides. What area did you apply to?

You are further along than we are. When did your S receive acceptance? And congrats to him for that step being :white_check_mark: :tada: One step closer… My S has applied for composition.

ETA: S did not submit IU application until 10/29, so right at the deadline. Not sure if that makes a difference.

We are both from the viola studio; it’s weird because I submitted mine December 4th and heard back a few days after

I went back and re-read your original message. So, I wanted to congratulate you, too, on both being accepted to IU and getting news about your pre-screen! :tada:

I think we may not have heard even from IU for a couple of reasons. S is homeschooled, so that may warrant a deeper review into his application. Or, maybe he’s on the cusp of being accepted or rejected. ETA: I feel like if he were rejected by IU he would have been notified by now. Fortunately, Jacobs isn’t at the top of his list, so he’s not really ā€œsweating it.ā€

Thank you! I am excited to audition there in February. I agree; I also applied for the graduate program. I think there are a lot more applications to get through for undergrad as well, which could also be the reason your S hasn’t heard back yet (my friend applied for the undergrad program as well).

Thank you! What you said is definitely possible but it does seem like its rolling and people find out daily so hopefully soon. Mine submitted his IU application pretty early in September and then his Jacobs mid-November I think. A friends S also applied composition and has heard from IU but not Jacobs.

Congrats! That’s very exciting. Hopefully we will start to hear soon for other studios!

Waiting for prescreen results from the following VP programs, has anyone heard from:

  • University of Colorado, Boulder
  • UCLA
  • UC Santa Barbara
  • Umich
  • Carnegie Mellon

That’s fantastic news - we heard so much love for Williams from parents and alumni last summer :tada:

He is insanely excited. I am kinda disappointed not to see the prescreen results but missing out on Chicago in February is not a bad thing. Ha! Did she apply Ed or rea anywhere?

huge congratulations!! Williams was at the top of the list for my oldest and was one of two schools (the other was Harvard) where he didn’t even make the waitlist. Very tough admit and an amazing school! Let them know if they’re looking for a horn to join your kid in the orchestra there’s one applying regular decision :joy:
