You too! ![]()
Thank you - got an email response to say they didnāt get through all of the pre screens and will be post holidays now
At least you know there are more to come and arenāt left wondering.
Oh Iām so glad you finally heard! Congrats!!
Oh bummer! My S is piano and we live in Seattle, so I thought maybe they were waiting til late afternoon.
Question that Iām asking too late⦠is NEC or
Berklee better for jazz? Or is it instrument specific? I mean it always is a little
My sonās first no, but he took it very well!!! Best of luck to your musician!
Mine applied to NEC Contemporary Musical Arts. Did anyone else?
In my opinion, what is ābetterā between programs is dependent on several factors.
First and foremost is the teacher (or sometimes teachers) with whom your musician will study upon acceptance.
Other factors would include ensemble opportunities both within and outside of the program, the fit of the studio and school to your musicianās personality and preference and the cost.
When my son went through this process several years ago, (classical instrumental so not jazz) he had a pretty good idea of the teachers he hoped to study with. As he went through his auditions, it became clear which programs were a good fit as well.
So many unanswered questions on the music journey, but know that over these next few months the path becomes much clearer. You and more importantly your kid will learn and grow along the way. And it always seems that kids end up in a program that is great for them.
Great news. We are still waiting to hear back from the grad schools. At this point, I think we will receive updates after the new year, as most schools seem to be going into winter break.
Iām sorry to hear that, but Iām glad he took the news well. Thatās how S was when he got a no from Rice. Best to yours as well!
They seem to have a lot of the same people on faculty! Both are great
@crabbydaddy I am a Bostonian and go to both for events. NEC and Berklee have very different vibes. I hope he is visiting both schools to help him make a decision.
She has friends there, and has listened to
Combos in person and online. For some reason not a super Boston fan, which would be awesome since D23 in Boston (non musical). This was mostly curiosity on my part. But as I now reflect on it, very challenging to get a sense of different programs. I think the culture of a jazz program super important especially for young women. She has worked with/played with people at nearly all the programs she is applying to, but hopefully during audition continues to get a sense. Some distant locations she preferred to do virtual auditions for.
Hope you can post impressions of NEC versus Berklee for others! (I know that Berklee has a jazz ensemble for women; I have mixed feelings about that but others love that.)
Hi anyone heard from Eastman? One of DDās friends heard today - we were expecting to wait until January
We are waiting as well, do you know what instrument/voice heard today?
Same hereā¦thought we wouldnāt hear from Eastman until January. Iāll have D check when she gets home and report back if thereās any news.
Woodwind - she has only heard of the one result so far
Eastman prescreening result arrived unexpectedly yesterday. My son is applying for jazz performance and we had resigned ourselves to waiting until the new year for news.
Does anyone know more about Eastmanās audition day schedule? Son is planning a dual major with UR and would like to also tour Rochester if there is time. We havenāt yet been to either campus to visit. Iām not sure if we are crazy to try to do a tour of UR in the early morning and then auditions in the afternoon at Eastman.
