Can not love this enough! So well said and absolutely true.
For those of you that received decisions from Jacobs, did you apply by their EA date? My daughter (Voice) applied during regular decision and is still waiting. She auditioned mid-January.
My daughter (Voice) submitted her general IU app by Nov. 1 (EA). She submitted her music supplemental app by Dec. 1 as is required for all Jacobs applicantsāthough she did not have to submit prescreenings because she is in-state. She auditioned on 2/2 and was accepted 2/12. I do know that they have rolling admission within Jacobs, so Iām sure it is no big deal that your daughter hasnāt heard yet. Is your daughter applying for undergrad or grad?
My son applied regular decision to Jacobs, Music ed, piano, auditioned 1/9 and received his acceptance email this week. Seems like it took almost exactly 1 month.
And has she heard back from her general IU application? That might be what is holding things up. Maybe IU hasnāt reviewed that app yet and Jacobs is waiting?

Thank you for responding. Yes, I think thatās the problem. Because she applied during regular decision, I think 11/29 to IU and 12/1 to Jacobs it may take until the end of March for the decision. She is applying Voice BM/BME undergrad.
We received a note on 1/18 that her Jacobs application is incomplete because they are waiting on the IU decision.
That totally makes sense. Even though my daughter applied EA, she didnāt get her general IU acceptance until well into January. Definitely slower than my 2 kids from previous years who applied EA and heard back by early December. The waitingāughā¦
Yes, waiting is the worst. Congratulations to your daughter!
Thank you, and Iām crossing my fingers for your daughter!
Hi all. Do people write thank you notes to the faculty/ admissions deans after their auditions? Donāt know what the etiquette is here.
My son only sent thank youās after private lessons with a specific professor but not to admissions after auditions.
Same with my son. Thank you emails after a private lesson or an individual meeting outside of the standard audition process.
I told my daughter to send thank you emails when she auditioned and pro private lessons. I hope she did.
Good question. When my son has auditioned we have not written thank you notes for those on the panel at the audition. However, if he did a trial lesson we did send thank you notes, to let them know we appreciated their time and the constructive feedback, etc.
Mine is a freshman now but he did last year!
My son did last year, and so did his musician friends. They treated the auditions like job interviews
Iād say canāt hurt, and better late than never
My D applied RD and her audition was 1/12. She was academically accepted a day or two after she submitted her app and then she was accepted to Jacobs 2/12, exactly a month after her audition.
Thank you and congratulations to your D. I was hoping there was an easy explanation. We just need to be patient and wait.
