I’m a parent of a grad student. S did not apply to IU grad but did for 3 other schools in violin performance. Last audition is coming up early March. Like someone said earlier, the waiting is so hard. We’re four years past undergrad auditions and the waiting is still the hardest, lol.
I’m the parent of a grad student, but my daughter did not audition at Indiana this year. Just sending a hug to you!
My son is applying for MM and most schools say they will respond by April 1.
Penn State portal updated today without emailing. Accepted for voice!!
Congratulations!!
Last audition for D today. Just like that, we’re done! For some reason, I had this one blocked out of my brain since it was virtual. Don’t know if anyone is traveling this or the next few weekends, but the weather looks absolutely cooperative in all the usual “trouble spots.”
That’s good to hear. Son has his last audition in NY week after next. Hoping for good news for all of our kiddos!
Good luck on the last! Audition season is hard…everyone deserves a studio that’s a great fit!
My D received acceptance from CCM (Music Education)! She first received an email from one of the faculty inviting her to shadow for a day and to take lessons. And only later in the day the portal was updated. Unfortunately her audition and interview times conflicted with faculty presentations, so we don’t have as much information about the school as we would like.
No financial information provided, and I am not sure when it is coming.
I did hear about more SMTD jazz admissions. One friend got in last week, then another deferred last week and then admitted this week! Kind of fast turn around
DS got his acceptance to the conservatory at Lawrence University last night, which wraps up music decisions for him (though his UGA music admit is still in the form of an unofficial e-mail from the studio for his instrument). UGA, Lawrence, St. Olaf…full FA info still pending at UGA and Lawrence. And then he has a mess of non-music performance apps out there that he should start hearing from soon. At the moment he’s definitely leaning toward a performance major (or possibly music ed?), but we’ll see how he feels in a few weeks.
As we’ve now entered the month of acceptances, don’t forget to pm me if you’d like to include yours on our thread below! I know we’re all still waiting on financials, so you can update with that information as you receive it if you like, and the final decision when it’s made! It is also nice to share the not-so-good news, as it really does tell the complete story of the prospective music major.
My DD got first acceptance today from Ithaca College! Also finalist for the Filene Competition at Skidmore College but unfortunately can not take it do to a direct conflict with Massachusetts Allstate. Good to have an acceptance though finally! She still has one more audition to take at McGill also next week. The waiting is brutal!!!
Does anyone have experience with the lunch invitation with faculties on Juilliard’s audition date? I was wondering if it was mandatory for the people auditioning.
My D (bass undergrad) didn’t have a lunch invitation like that but I have a strong hunch it’s NOT mandatory. People are likely traveling from out of town and it’s hard to be there for all events except the audition. At Curtis there was an invitation to a class the night before the audition… While most kids were there, probably 1/3 didn’t go.
Johns Hopkins decisions come out on the 20th… should we expect Peabody the same day?
I loved the email they sent what to expect when you are expecting a college decision I think they said April 1 in that letter
Thank you for the info!
Last year JHU and Peabody decision was on the same day, mid march, likely 3/17. For the double degree applicants it was one acceptance.
News by proxy - but so exciting that one of D’s friends got in to Curtis
