@Lefishes and @Momofviolinboy - fantastic news!
Daughter just received a scholarship from IU Jacobs for undergrad voice. Been waiting on that one! She was excited to have gotten anything at all since her voice felt off the day of her audition. Yay! She is closer to making a decision. Still waiting on financials from one other school though……
Well for anyone who’s musician has not gotten IU scholarship information yet, come on over to my corner of the bar. I’m buying.
Congrats! Hope the financials are good!
Sorry for the laughing emoji, but I feel like financials this year have really been all over the place. Do I feel like this because I’m in the middle of it, or is it really odd? It has been the most confusing part of this journey.
I concur. At this point we’ve heard from all 3 schools my son applied to. We have merit scholarships for 2 of the 3; haven’t heard from the third, but have received NO full financial aid package from any of the 3. We have no idea what the full financial aid package looks like. Yet, two weeks from today we’re expected to make a final decision.
The FAFSA “improvements” sure are amazing.
My kiddo is still waiting on MSM, but we’ve just checked his portal and everything has been deleted from it:( Not feeling very optimistic anymore…
Okay - waiting for my daughter’s (hopefully) scholarhip info from CCM. We’re out of state so it would be nice to get some type of information.
Oboemom2, my D will be MM VP and she literally just received notification, try to refresh…fingers crossed!
We just found out my sons Cincy academic merit email never got sent to him, glitch in the system, ugh. He also talked with the prof and he was able to give us a general idea of what merit to expect from the studio and program. Reach out to the professor if you can, they can see it on their side. We now have a general idea to compare to other schools.
What I learned from my former students and my son was that the money part (both aid and merit) was always confusing. Among their friends (from multiple summer programs) they compiled info across 4 years, multiple instruments (mainly strings), and a wide range of schools, but found no pattern. These are kids who score 800 on SAT math. If there’s a pattern they would have discovered it. The only agreeable things are grad students get more than undergrads (makes sense); a small number of top applicants get large offers from everywhere (no surprise); wait patiently (after the top applicants make their picks) and there’s a decent chance for better offer (but don’t count on it).
Just left a sample lesson for the studio my son will be in for viola if he chooses CCM. The prof told him she recommended him for a scholarship, but to be aware that funds are low and that any amount given he should take seriously if that makes sense. She said it might a few weeks yet to know the amount if any was actually awarded to him.
It’s ‘Yes’ from MSM for my Son! So excited
Oh that’s kind of crazy! My d hasn’t heard anything about academic merit either (and her GPA would indicate that she would likely receive something). I’ll have her speak with the professor. Is that how you found out about the academic merit too? Though, I don’t think it’s in her portal.
The good news with CCM is that it’s one of the cheapest options to begin with. Merit is gravy for us compared to some of the others!
True except we’re OOS.
Same here for my D’s, with schiolarship. But still very expensive…
Do we know when CIM sends scholarship information?
We are also waiting to hear about CIM scholarship.
