Probably this week, they released on March 20 last year.
I have looked at her IU portal and they still have not even received the audition. It shows it is still required and a missing piece, not having been received yet. Very nervous.
Yes we waiting nervously for this!!
I would call them. I had a friend whose daughter’s audition recording was misplaced (at a different school). She had auditioned in person but her portal showed no audition. They called and the school was able to locate the tape and a she ended up being accepted
I wonder if some of the hold up on merit info could possibly be tied to schools waiting to see if government stuff is going to affect the amount of merit they can offer. Also, specifically for those waiting for CCM, my son received two merit bump ups throughout the month of April. I assume they redisperse merit money as kids they offer it to end up choosing other schools. For us last year, they were the last we heard from about merit also.
I feel like you told me this already!! haha! this process is making me forgetful!!!
No problem!! There’s just so much to keep track of! Hope your kiddo gets good news:).
My son heard from CCM for merit. He is percussion. Was given the $10,000 National Outreach Award from CCM and $5,000 Cincinnatus Award. No where near enough for him to attend. Ah well. It was a great experience auditioning there.
Hi all. My son has applied RD to the IU Bloomington Jacobs School of Music for Fall 2025 for Horn Performance. To my knowledge decisions for JSOM are due out by April 1st (they said Apr1st was their goal). I’ve read that lots of folks are awaiting RD admissions decisions for other degree programs at IUB outside of JSOM that they were supposed to hear about by Mar 15th. Seems like lots of folks are still waiting. I’m worried that JSOM decisions will be delayed too.
Has anyone already received a decision for JSOM for Fall 2025 and was it RD? If so when and how did you receive the notification? Was the financial aid package attached?
Thanks in advance.
From my understanding, it depends on when the audition was and what instrument/department students are auditioning with/for. Lots of students RD have heard of auditions results if the auditions were in Jan or Feb. And some professors tell the student right after their audition that they made it in. Scholarship information will come out near April 1st though for all students. At least that is how I understand it. I am still waiting for IU to receive the audition results for my daughter who auditioned March 7th RD.
Side note, my daughter, who is a current Jacobs sophomore for piano BM, reminded me yesterday that we had to call the school at the end of March to ask when decisions would be posted. Literally 2 hrs after our conversation she received the email. It was either a coincidence or the admissions saw she was over looked somehow and pushed a button. We were not stressed about it, however, because she received a call from the professor a few hours after her audition, as we were boarding the plane, telling her she would be admitted with a nice Scholarship also. (Good thing, as Jacobs was the only school she auditioned for!!) But nothing like that has occured for my daughter, who audioned viola BM.
So like I said, it depends on studio and situation. I plan on calling Friday, if I see her audition results are still missing.
If you go to this thread you can see who has already received Jacobs admissions and when: Acceptance/Scholarship Thread for Class of '29 Undergrad/'27 Grad Music Majors - #20 by Clara30
As I mentioned a couple of posts above, Jacobs merit (academic and talent) is awarded by Jacobs, not the campus in general. In my experience (3 kids) these offers are made within a couple days, give or take, of their April 1 deadline. My youngest received hers last year on 3/31. The last audition for Jacobs was just the weekend before last, so I’m guessing that is why decisions are running later than expected. My daughter has a good friend who auditioned for Voice that weekend and has still not heard back. Wishing your student the best!!!
Thank you! Just called them to check that he wasn’t missing any info they needed and they said no he wasn’t and that we should know soon. I guess we wait until April 1st!
Thanks so much! So hoping he gets in…he very much enjoyed his visit to IU; I think he’d have a great experience there.
I am trying to keep my mind off of the waiting for acceptances, so I thought I would ask a question for my other daughter. She is a sophomore at IU for piano BM. She wants to get her masters BUT not in piano performance. Rather she wants to specialized in collaborative piano. What are the great piano collaborative schools? Anyone have a kiddo in this type of program or trying to do this right now?
Juilliard has a fantastic program for collaborative piano.
Anyone’s child applying for French Horn studies? If so, where to and have you received admissions decisions yet?
Mine submitted his audition in Feb and we still have not heard anything.
OMG…I’ll make sure mine says nothing like that. That’s terrible to give it and then take it away like that.
is yours the jazz drummer? i think we’ve got a few similar schools but mine’s classical percussion. He had other good offers already though, right?
Two programs a successful collaborative pianist I know attended are:
Bard Conservatory: Collaborative Piano Fellowship and University of Maryland: PIANO | School of Music
She is a singer, as well, and so was most interested in accompanying, and coaching opera. Bard in particular is great for that.
