I agree. Guitar mom….in person if at all possible!!! BEST of luck!
Just another thought on jazz auditions–jazz being so collaborative. I don’t know how all schools do it, but IU Jacobs (where my son attended for jazz guitar) had an optional jazz jam at the end of the audition day. I honestly don’t even remember being aware that it was happening until we got there that morning (granted my boy isn’t the best communicator–haha). They rotated the kids through about a 2 hour jam. It was a fantastic experience–parents were asked to be the audience–and I am certain that the faculty members were still taking notes;). My son was so glad he did it. He hadn’t felt super confident in his individual audition but really was able to show his stuff in the jam. You might see if that could be part of the itinerary at other schools if they are doing all their jazz auditions on one day.
That’s definitely a huge advantage for sure!!!
And another reason to try for in-person when you can.
Just got word from Berklee….full tuition scholarship! Ackkkkkk! Talk about throwing a huge wrench into this process.
Oh my goodness!!! Huge congratulations!! Send him up to Boston; it’s the best city!
@FSUSammy can the Michigan State one be switched so he can do Thornton? Or maybe he is going to go with Berklee full tuition. (I am a Bostonian…)
We already have the travel for Michigan State booked. But if anything we can switch our flight home to go straight to LAX. I’m just hesitant because I’ve heard Thornton isn’t super generous.
Berklee’s Offer is super hard to beat right now. I really need to sit down with my son and see what he says.
Passed Frost! now to book all these flights…Anyone else’s head spinning?
Also am I the only percussion performance mom in here?
