Class of 30 Undergrad/Class of 28 Grad: All Things Related to Music School Applications (prescreens/tours/interviews/auditions/supplements/etc)

University of Miami Frost school of music just sent out acceptance email! She’s in.

Good thing is they also tell you the scholarship amount! She got a huge scholarship! So proud of her.

Congrats! We’ve been waiting on their scholarships for months now lol

my son got two scholarships and then when you add bright futures and the ease grant our out of pocket would be about $20k which is comparable to his offer from Berklee

sending a private message to you about this!

What is bright futures and ease grant? Is he in state?

Was he applying ED?

Yes he’s in state. The ease grant is something the state of Florida gives to keep Florida kids in the state. Bright futures is a scholarship through the state. It obviously makes Florida public schools very affordable but it can help make a dent at some of the private schools when you stack it with scholarships

No he applied EA. We found out in January that he got in but Frost doesn’t release scholarships until RD comes out in March. It was torture to wait this long lol

Trying hard to be chill for my kid who has his Curtis audition in the morning. I’ll just park my nervous energy here so it doesn’t spill out elsewhere!

Congrats on MSU and IU!!!

FYI MSU has been super slow on scholarship release. Supposedly they can come out anytime between March and May. At this point I’m not counting on my son getting enough to make OOS affordable there.

ew, may?

my kid has gotten academic scholarships through MSU at least that make it close to IU in state, but he’s planning on double majoring. IU makes double majoring in something else a lot easier than MSU (with their bachelor of science and other field), but getting out of Indiana and not dealing with the state govt’s involvement in IU appeals to him. I have a feeling he’s going to wait until the last minute and see what the money looks like then.

he also got into Colorado and Washington music, but with not enough scholarship to make OOS doable.
