class rank, how big of a factor?

if I explained to yale how my class rank was affected after changing high schools, how will they weight my rank in the application, will they not look at the rank, will it be less of a factor, or the same amount of weight?

Honestly, as a Yalie who works part-time at the admissions office, don’t worry too much about how they will interpret small things like class rank. Yale admissions officers are very good at what they do. They look at class rank in the context of your high school, and make decisions based on everything that they know about you, so as long as they know what’s going on, I don’t think that you should worry about class rank. Anyway, all schools calculate class rank differently, and a lot of schools don’t rank at all. From my personal experience with admissions and talking to people here at Yale, they just want people who have shown that they are academically curious and do as well as they can with the opportunities they’ve had.
