class rank to gpa

Hi.
I’m international student and currently being concerned with gpa.
Since my country isn’t using gpa system(only rank system) I don’t have gpa scores and I can’t find proper colleges(match reach safety).
I mean I could find average act/sat/gpa admission scores but I can’t compare to mine.
I’m top 30% in my school(135/461) and I have 32 act single score.
How I could safe,reach,match colleges for me?
Thanks.

Check out https://educationusa.state.gov/ to learn about applying to US colleges from your country.

Do you get grades for your classes? Can you convert them to a 4.0 system? then you can figure out your own GPA.

I would look for an online GPA calculator- there are many. However, many colleges are moving away from looking at student’s GPA, because each high school calculates GPA differently, and instead look at the rigor of your high school curriculum, which classes you took, the grades you received in those classes, and your standardized testing.

.

Does your HS sent students to US colleges routinely? If so the person/people in your HS who coordinate the applications to the US may best be able to help you figure this out.

I tried to post comment several times but something pop up and doesn’t works :confused:
@happy1 nope I’m just one who applys to us
But my dad is helping me he studied as exchange student before

@bopper @yonceonhismouth I converted my class rank to gpa and my gpa is 3.0( http://www.foreigncredits.com/Resources/GPA-Calculator/ , south korea, secondary 2004~present)
I don’t think this is correct because common top 30% student in us doesn’t have 3.0gpa.
I also have ABCDE grades(6A 5B 1C) but it isn’t sepecific as A+,A,B+,B… so I can’t refer this to calculate my gpa.
My school has tight curriculum.
List of subjects I took:
Language(English,Japanese,korean) Science(Chemistry,Life science,Physics),Math(Algebra,Calculus, probability and statistics, Basic Geometry and Vectors),history,geography ETC…
My school does have counseler but he doesn’t knows about us university admission.
I want to apply ~70 ranked cs schools.
Not sure I could get admitted.

College confidential is only place I could ask about admissions.Hope mr or mrs could help me…

You say you want to apply to more than 70 schools??? That is far too many- most US students won’t apply to more than 10. That GPA is low, but you said you weren’t sure it was accurate- you seem to have decent grades, not amazing- does your school not offer honors or more advanced classes?

yeah 70 way too many. 20 very max i’d say

@dota2fan @yonceonhismouth you are right.

Hey OP, the common app only accepts 20 schools at most, but assuming that you choose schools with their own app it would be doable, nonetheless, it’s a BAD idea really really bad depending on the the type of schools that you are applying to.

@yonceonhismouth
What I was trying to say was I will apply schools under ranking 70.Not applying 70’s.
My school doesn’t have honors,
Does it matters a lot?

Oh okay now I see.
If your school doesn’t offer honors that is fine- most colleges (although not all- you have to check their websites) do something called a “holistic review”, where they look at all the parts of your application in context. If they see your school doesn’t offer honors they won’t hold it against you.
