Over the summer I decided to take an accelerated science course and it was not the best idea. I didn’t use FAFSA or any sort of help from the government to pay for this class. It was totally out of pocket. This class was taken at CC. Is there anyway my college or FAFSA could find out about this failing grade without me telling them?
Your college can find out using the student clearinghouse website. My son’s college uses it to print out proof of college attendance for our health insurance. If he attended other colleges, they’d be right there for the college to see. If he attended other colleges and didn’t tell them, they could kick him out, rescind his diploma, and/or require him to repay any aid he got.
Are you a freshman or have you attended your college already? What’s their policy on courses at other colleges? Some allow it and some don’t. If you’re an incoming freshman and you took a college class after high school graduation they may consider you a transfer (which means you’d no longer qualify for freshman scholarships). If finances matter, you need to look up the policies for your college so you know where you stand. You’re going to have to tell them, but you need to know your options when you do. If you’re a freshman who will now be considered a transfer, your best bet is to take a gap year and find a college that will let you apply as a freshman.
Im going into my junior year of college
Why did you fail? If you have a medical reason perhaps you could petition to have the F changed to a Withdrawal.
