Classes above AP

How do colleges view classes that are taken after AP/IB programs? For example, my school offers multivariable Calc after Calc BC, but its not technically an AP course. When looking at rigor, will colleges recognize that its still supposed to be a hard class?

Yes, especially if you’ve taken say BC sophomore year so multivariable is the next logical course to take, even though it’s not AP.

The label “AP” just means that it’s supposed to prepare you for the respective AP test. Colleges will definitely recognize college classes as harder classes than Calc BC.

Ah okay thanks!

Getting subject credit in college (so you won’t have to wastefully repeat it if the course is a “complete” college-equivalent course in the subject) may be more of a hassle if something like multivariable calculus is a high school course, rather than a college or dual enrollment course.
