Classes for MCB freshman: is this too much?

As of now, I have planned about 18 units:

+ = signed up during Phase 1

Chem 1A (3 units) + (I have completed IB Chemistry HL in high school. How much would this assist me in this class?)
Chem 1AL (1 unit) +
Math 1A (4 units) +
CogSci C1 (4 units)
L&S R44 (5 units)
MCB 90E, waitlist (1 unit) <– depends on if the class will be available.

Is this workload excessive for a freshman? If so, I may plan to shift CogSci to spring.

Any advice from a current student would be truly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

thats a full load there isnt it, im also a freshman but from upperclassmen i have talked to, ur schedule doesnt seem to be that great, considering that chem/math are both competitive

try taking it easy your first semester. chem and math are pretty standard first semester courses, and if you keep up, you should be fine in both. lower division mcb classes are pretty easy (though i haven’t taken 90E before). you might want to consider dropping or changing the other classes to one that demand less work (i.e. the one with 5 units will be pretty work intensive- i took a language course once and although it wasn’t hard, took a lot of my time)

I think you’ll be fine, a lot of people do math and chem together (I did math 1b wit chem 1a) and it wasn’t too bad, taking 2 additional classes should be manageable.
