Classes for Neuroscience Major

Well I looked through the GE requirements for the College of Letters and Science and I've made a list of the classes I'm interested in taking. Is there some sort of "recommended courses" for a neuroscience major that I should be aware of? Also, when do I get to choose my classes for Fall 2008? Thanks for the help.

Don't take the NS undergraduate course -- for non-majors... Well really, I mean if you're going to be a biology major, it'll count for nothing. I suppose if you're totally unsure about pursuing a biology degree.

Look up "core classes biology ucla" and get a feel.

Well, for neurosci(any bio related major, actually), you have to take the life science core, which consists of:
LS 1,2,3,4
Chem 14A,B,BL,C,CL,D
Physics 6A,B,C
Math 3A,B,C
Stats 10/13

You choose your classes during orientation.

If you're gonna major in a science, don't bother looking at the GEs under Scientific Inquiry.

Ok thanks for the help everyone!

Psychobiology doesn't require the Stats 10/13 does it? I've been trying to figure this out for a few days.

No, but it's recommended before you take Psych 100A, if you don't have a background in stats.

well u can do ls2 which has neuro in it. itll count for something. . . besides ls series are supposed to help you chosoe which bio speciality you want. you have time.

you're only recommended to take stats 10 before Psych100A if you haven't done math in a few years. But if you've just finished your senior year in a calculus class or something, then you don't really need it. But of course, if you want to take three quarters of math for med school, then I guess you could make stats count as one of them and Psych100A as another. But yeah, this is basically what my psychology dept. counselor said when I asked her the same question.

Would Math 3C be enough background in stats? It can't be that hard.

yeah my counselor said if you've already finished Math 3C, you should be fine in Psych 100A.

you will be. psych 100A is NOT hard (well, it varies with professor). if you were able to wrap your head around calculus, you'll do fine in 100A.

Read that.

What if I'm taking IB Higher Level Math in high school right now?

By the way thanks for the link mrMOO.
