Classes for studying and time management?

Hey I was wondering if there were any credited classes for studying/improved learning. I’d like to better learn how to “study smart” since my hard studying isn’t paying off. Any tips would also be greatly appreciated.

Study tips: Go to class. Take notes. Ask questions (afterwards, if there is no time during). Do the homework. Do the review problems/questions at the back of the book. Attend review sessions. Read your emails from the professor. If you do bad on a test, or feel unsure of yourself, go to office hours. This might requiring emailing your professor for an appt.

If you do all of the above, you have a good chance of doing very well. You don’t have to be a genius to do well in most classes, you just have to be diligent.

Time management: Start early so you won’t run out of time. Follow the syllabus: this is your best estimate of the workload. It will list projects due, readings and homework due, midterms, and finals, etec. You may want to read ahead so that you understand the lecture.

You can always look into getting a tutor. Many departments have group tutoring services available. You have to ask. There is a lot of info on the Rutgers website.

If you’re in engineering there’s a class called Methods of Inquiry (MoI) which does basically this. Its a class and they pair you with a mentor for 1-1 but its for e-credit
