Classic Residence Halls Hot?

I’ve heard that the Classic Residence Halls are the best place for freshmen to socialize and meet new people. However, I’m also concerned with the fact that there is no air conditioning. Can anyone tell me roughly what temperatures to expect in the dorms during day and night (in the spring, around this time of year)? I’m a pretty heat intolerant person, and it’s hard for me to even sleep if temperatures are above 80 degrees. Should I just go for Deluxe Residence Hall?

I think that’s more like a myth which isn’t true. You can socialize anywhere as long as you want to. AC is needed for a roughly 2-3 months period mostly during the day. Other than that, you need heater to sleep at night since the day-night temperature is very different. It rarely gets above 70 degrees during the night, with an average around 55-65 from my not-so-accurate observation. During the day it can go anywhere from 70 to 90. Note that the AC doesn’t always work as you want to. I lived in a plaza my first year, and people were very socialized in my building. And I turned my AC to heater modes most of the time. When I wanted cooling, it wasn’t doing anything and made loud noise. It might just be a special case, but don’t worry if there’s no AC. It’s usually not that hot during the night. Personally I recommend a plaza. You can socialize when you want, and you can enjoy the quietness when you need to study. It’s just a good mixture of both social life and academic life.

Thanks for your helpful feedback!

Nothing a good fan or two can’t fix, but it can get uncomfortably warm in the peak of the summer.
