classical greek

does classical greek give one a leg up on college admissions?

In the sense that it makes you more worldly, more interesting, more educated, well-spoken and thoughtful, yes, it gives you a leg up.

Catch my drift? ;)

haha no, i don’t

Of course my friend.

Μήπως. Ποιος νομίζει;

(Sorry, modern Greek’s the best I could do.)

Not unless you demonstrate some major passion about classical studies.

If you’re planning to major in Classics, and if you’ve shown that it’s a passion of yours (through lots of coursework, participation in the NJCL, etc.), then it might give you a little bit of help in admissions. But it won’t be a major factor.

Wait a second - that’s awesome. You know classical greek? Fluently? Because if you do, that’s definitely a leg up. And if you exhibit an interest, then I would say so - but not a leg up more than any other extracurricular-passion-leg up.
