How good is the Classics program at Beloit?

Someone mentioned to me that he had read a negative comment in one of guide books (Fiske, perhaps?) about their Classics program. Anyone with any comments/information?

Thanks.

Beloit actually has a strong classics program. I wouldn’t pay much attention to a negative review, especially of an undergrad department as the writer is often misinformed. Also you can find a bad review of anything if you look.

I wouldn’t say that it’s strong, as it only has two full-time classicists on staff. It’s a fairly average department, which means 2-3 years of Greek and Latin and a few civilization courses are offered. That said, it’s unique among LACs for having an Egyptologist on staff.
