Any really great products out there? I have always used Pine Sol or Mr. Clean, but I am ready for a change. I used to work with someone who used a vinegar & water solution (on everything)

I really don’t scrub my floors that often, but the washing machine repairman is coming tomorrow and I thought I’d be nice and clean the floor for him and it got me thinking about new options.

I love Armstrong floor cleaner. At least I’m pretty sure it’s Armstrong. I’ve been using it for so long, I don’t even look at the label any more, but it is blue liquid in a semi-clear plastic bottle. I use it on vinyl flooring and marble tiles. It makes them shine and you don’t have to rinse. The floor is never sticky.

BOY that must be one good looking repair guy to warrant that treatment ;)

I have made up my own mix the last couple of year (that sounds wrong - I didn’t “make it up”, I make it - I found it on a website and like the way it works ). It is 1/3 ammonia, 1/3 white vinegar, 1/3 distilled water. I usually put it in a spray bottle and spray the floor with it. (I have vinyl floors though, not tile - don’t know how/if it would work on tile).

It seems better to me than any of the commercial cleaners I have tried (and I hate cleaning, of any sort, so my floor was really dirty the first time I tried it).

My D just recently moved into a grotty old apt. with laminate floors in the living room and bedroom and tile in the kitchen and bathroom. While helping her move in I remembered that a friend who has slate floors in her lake house told me about the great steam mop she uses to clean them. On a whim I bought one for my D at Macy’s (made by Haan). It was fun to use and made an amazing difference on the floors. You can use cleaning solutions but we just used water and the heat did the trick. Here is the link to the one we bought.

I use diluted bleach and one of those mops that’s basically just a sponge on a stick (with a wringing mechanism). Afterwards, my the bottom of my feet usually end up slightly paler.
