Clearing Course Deficiency

When you clear a course deficiency by taking a college course in the subject that you are trying to clear, will that college course still be counted towards igetc or do you need to take another college course to replace that?

Try speaking with someone about transfer admissions and IGETC.

what the hell.

im not sure if i understood the question correctly. what is your situation?

or, you could just follow mme-lin’s advice. talk to your counselor, too. they’d probably know more than CCers would.

i only took two years of math in high school, to clear course deficiency, you need to take a course with a prerequisite of algebra 2 i believe. I took a math class already with this prerequisite. Since my course deficiency is cleared, but i still need to take a math class for igetc, can this still count both ways?

im with jinobi and mmelin. Just go to a counselor.

your situation is not really common.

goddamn you bumped this thread way too much! I hope you get banned for it.

First don’t mention high school because you start fresh at a Cali CC. From my experience it should count both ways, that is if I’m understanding what your asking. You only need one math course to satisfy Area 2. However, make sure that course is a Math 2A equivalent, and it is only used to fulfill one area of IGETC. This is what is stated on Assist.org:

Definitely go talk to your counselor, but take it with a grain of salt and verify everything yourself. I’ve seen many hopeful transfers get screwed because they believed everything they were told. Learn how to use the school catalog!

actually i dont have a fresh start, i took college courses in high school, and i took higher math in high school, thats why i only have two years

I was asking to take the Deficiency Community College Course to be extend my State Board of Directors for Community Colleges…I would like to know the details of this cours and what is about?
